Abstract:
A method for editing software objects can include identifying at least one user selection of at least a portion of an electronic document displayed within an application and prompting a user for a target destination to which the user selection is to be posted. A user input specifying the target destination to which the user selection is to be posted can be received and the user selection can be duplicated to the target destination.
Abstract:
A method of dynamically negotiating a transaction can include determining a potential transaction between participants according to transaction parameters stored within a transaction parameter data store. The transaction parameters can be associated with each of the participants and can specify acceptable transaction terms. The potential transactions can be evaluated according to a mutual benefit conferred on the participants by the potential transactions according to the transaction parameters. The potential transactions can be ordered according to decreasing mutual benefit; and, the potential transaction having the greatest mutual benefit can be presented to the participants.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for discovering contacts common to a sender and a recipient of an electronic message (e-mail). The method can include identifying an attachment to the e-mail wherein the attachment includes a list of contacts personal to the sender. A list of contacts personal to the recipient can be retrieved. Each of the lists of contacts can be parsed and compared to identify common contacts. A common contact list can be populated with the identified common contacts.
Abstract:
A method of message delivery can include registering a plurality of reception states for a receiving party. The reception states can specify conditions for establishing communications links with receiving party addresses. A receiving party address can be identified from a first initiated communications link between the sending party and the receiving party. Reception state data specified by the plurality of reception states can be determined according to the receiving party address and can be presented to the sending party.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for the overflow routing of incoming telephone messages to an electronic mail inbasket. In one embodiment, the invention queries the capacity of a telephone answering system to store an audio message from an incoming telephone call for later play. Upon determining that the telephone answering system lacks the capacity to store the audio message, the invention converts the caller's audio message to text and routes the text to an electronic mail inbasket, preferably the inbasket of the intended recipient of the call.
Abstract:
A method and a data processing apparatus are disclosed for marking characters of a character string, which string is resident in the data processing system. The disclosed invention finds, in the string, a first character that matches a character of a predefined set of characters; as a result of finding the first character, identifies a character predefined as paired with the matched character of the predefined set of characters; finds, in the string, a second character that matches the paired character; and marks the characters of the string between the first character and second character.
Abstract:
A method and system for enhanced data access efficiency in an electronic book implemented within a data processing system having a display, at least one displayable index screen which includes multiple selectable topics and multiple numbered data pages. A user is permitted to designate particular selectable topics within the index screen and page tabs are then displayed for each numbered data page which includes a reference to a designated selectable topic. An iconic representation of the index screen is displayed in the absence of a display of the index screen. The iconic representation of the index screen includes a selectable control element. Each time the selectable control element is selected by a user, a list of each designated selectable topic is provided. A listing of page tabs for each numbered data page associated with a listed selectable topic is then displayed each time a listed selectable topic is graphically selected by a user. Particular data pages may then be selected directly, by graphically designating page tabs, without requiring the display of an index screen.
Abstract:
A visual representation of a human user for display within one or more graphical user interfaces to others interacting with the human user over a network can be identified. An authenticity score defining a degree of resemblance between the visual representation of the human user and physical characteristics of the human user can be calculated.
Abstract:
An electronic commerce method can include the step of determining a plurality of e-commerce partners. For each partner, a partner identifier can be presented within a commerce GUI. In the commerce GUI, the partner identifier can be an expandable node. An expansion of at least one of the nodes can be presented within the commerce GUI. For each expansion, a transaction identifier can be presented as a child node of the expanded node. The transaction identifier can represent an electronic commerce transaction between a user of the commerce GUI and the associated e-commerce partner.
