    摘要: A method of making a multilayered chromonic structure comprises (a) preparing a first aqueous mixture comprising (i) a first continuous water-soluble polymer phase and (ii) a first discontinuous chromonic phase comprising a chromonic material, to form chromonic nanoparticles; (b) non-covalently crosslinking the resulting chromonic nanoparticles with a multivalent cation salt; (c) dispersing the resulting crosslinked chromonic nanoparticles in a composition comprising a chromonic material to form a chromonic nanoparticle dispersion; and (d) preparing a second aqueous mixture comprising (i) a second discontinuous chromonic phase comprising the chromonic nanoparticle dispersion and (ii) a second continuous water-soluble polymer phase, to encapsulate the chromonic nanoparticles; wherein at least one of the first discontinuous chromonic phase and the second discontinuous chromonic phase further comprises a guest compound.

    摘要: Projection screen assemblies include one or more birefringent retarding layers and one or more polarizing layers. The retarding and polarizing layers reduce the unwanted reflection of ambient and image light. One embodiment of a screen assembly includes a dispersing layer having an input side to receive light from a light source and a first retarding layer disposed to alter the polarization of the light transmitted by the dispersing film. A first polarizer substantially transmits light received from the first retarding layer in a first polarization state and absorbs light received from the first retarding layer in a second polarization state orthogonal to the first polarization state.

    摘要: In an acrylonitrile based retarder, relatively uniform performance is obtained as the angle of incidence varies over a wide range. A toughening material may be blended with an acrylonitrile based polymer to facilitate processing of a retarder and improve mechanical properties of the retarder without compromising the optical performance. A rubber-modified acrylonitrile based retarder which provides relatively uniform wide angle can be fabricated using conventional processing techniques. Such retarders are particularly suited for a number of specific applications which use relatively wide ranges of incidence angles.
