    摘要: The present disclosure is directed to a composite material comprising one or more layers that are able to bind and deactivate chemical and/or biological agents. The first layer comprises a porous polymer substrate and a nucleophilic organic polymer cross-linked on the surface or within the pores of the porous polymer substrate using a carbamate cross-linking agent, wherein the cross-linked nucleophilic polymer comprises functional groups operative to form a covalent bond with a chemical or biological agent. The composite material is used to manufacture items of protective apparel including chemical-biological protective suits.

    摘要: A multi-functional battery separator comprises two or more active separator layers deposited from different polymer solutions to form a multilayered unitary structure comprising a free-standing film, a multiplex film on one side of a porous substrate, or separate films or multiplex films on opposite sides of a porous substrate. In a preferred embodiment, the cascade coating method is used to simultaneously deposit the active separator layers wet so that the physical, electrical and morphological changes associated with the polymer drying out process are avoided or minimized. The multi-functional separator is inexpensive to fabricate, exhibits enhanced ionic conductivity and ionic barrier properties, and eliminates gaps between individual layers in a separator stack that can contribute to battery failure.

    摘要: The invention includes embodiments that relate to a method of improving the abrasion resistance of a plastic article. The method comprises: (a) providing a composition comprising at least one siloxane compound and at least one thermoplastic polymeric material; (b) forming an article from the composition of step (a); and (c) exposing the article formed in step (b) to an energy source selected from an electron beam source, a gamma radiation source, and a combination thereof. The invention also includes embodiments that relate to an article comprising an abrasion resistant surface.
