Abstract: In a scroll fluid compressor including orbiting and stationary scroll members having end plates and wraps in vortical form in upstanding positions on the end plates meshing with each other to define therebetween spaces for compressing a fluid introduced through an inlet line and discharging the compressed fluid through an outlet line, flat plates in vortical form having surface finishes of higher precision than the end plates are placed in valleys between the outer wraps and the inner wraps of the scroll members to enable the wrap of the orbiting scroll member to move in orbiting movement while having the forward ends of the wraps in sliding contact with the surfaces of the flat plates in vortical form. Stepped portions may be formed on the bottoms of the valleys to hold the flat plates in vortical form in place, or space may be provided between the flat plates in vortical form and the bottoms of the valleys to be filled with a filler material from outside through ducts formed in the end plates, to bond the flat plates in vortical form to the end plates to enable the forward ends of the wraps to be maintained in uniform contact with the flat plates in vortical form.

Abstract: An adsorption heat pump is provided in which water vapor can be efficiently adsorbed and desorbed using a heat source having a lower temperature than ones heretofore in use because the pump employs an adsorbent which has a large difference in water adsorption amount in adsorption/desorption and can be regenerated (release the adsorbate) at a low temperature. The invention provides an adsorption heat pump which comprises an adsorbate, an adsorption/desorption part having an adsorbent for adsorbate adsorption/desorption, a vaporization part for adsorbate vaporization which has been connected to the adsorption/desorption part, and a condensation part for adsorbate condensation which has been connected to the adsorption/desorption part, wherein the adsorbent, when examined at 25° C., gives a water vapor adsorption isotherm which, in the relative vapor pressure range of from 0.05 to 0.30, has a relative vapor pressure region in which a change in relative vapor pressure of 0.15 results in a change in water adsorption amount of 0.18 g/g or larger.

Abstract: A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a magnetic tape includes a supply side reel gear a takeup side reel gear, a tape guide drum about which the magnetic tape pulled out from a tape cassette is wound, a tape loading mechanism for pulling out the magnetic tape from the tape cassette and for placing it on the tape guide drum by way of tape loading and for housing it in the tape cassette by way of tape unloading, and a switching mechanism for switching the running direction of the magnetic tape pulled out from the tape cassette. This switching mechanism includes a counter gear positioned between the supply side reel gear and the takeup side reel gear during loading of the magnetic tape by the tape loading mechanism, and controls the running direction of the magnetic tape by the counter gear selectively meshing with the supply side reel gear or the takeup side reel gear after completion of the loading of the magnetic tape. Since the running direction of the magnetic tape is controlled by switching of the counter gear, the running direction of the magnetic tape can be switched promptly.
