Abstract:
Prosthetic intervertebral discs and methods for using the same are described. The subject prosthetic discs include upper and lower endplates separated by a compressible core member. The prosthetic discs described herein include one-piece, two-piece, three-piece, and four-piece structures. The subject prosthetic discs exhibit stiffness in the vertical direction, torsional stiffness, bending stiffness in the sagittal plane, and bending stiffness in the front plane, where the degree of these features can be controlled independently by adjusting the components of the discs. The interface mechanism between the endplates and the core members of several embodiments of the described prosthetic discs enables a very easy surgical operation for implantation.
Abstract:
A home appliance is provided. The home appliance includes a main controller for generating a first data signal including status information and a second data signal including operating information, a first sound output device for outputting a first sound signal according to the first data signal including status information to be transmitted through a communication network, and a second sound output device for outputting a second sound signal according to the second data signal including operating information to be perceived by a user. Thus, the sound signal regarding the status information and the sound signal regarding the operating information can be output through the different sound output devices, i.e., the first and second sound output devices.
Abstract:
A home appliance and home appliance system are provided. The home appliance may include an input device, through which an input signal is received from a user, and a control panel, into which the input device is inserted and connected, including a sound through-hole through which sound information passes. The home appliance may further include a sound output device disposed on a rear surface of the control panel that outputs the sound information corresponding to product information of the home appliance through the sound through-hole to outside of the home appliance. A gap may be formed between the input device and the sound through-hole into which the input device is inserted. Therefore, the sound information output from the sound output device may be transmitted to the outside through the gap. The home appliance may further include a sound guide, such that the sound information transmitted from the sound output device may be efficiently transmitted to the sound through-hole.

An apparatus and method for switching a power transmission mode of a washing machine id disclosed, to prevent malfunction and damages of the washing machine by switching the power transmission mode stably in which the method includes: (a) rotating the cam (600) by driving the clutch motor (60); (b) counting the number of pulses of power supplied to the clutch motor (60); and (c) maintaining the rotation of the cam (600) until the ounted number of pulses is equal to, or greater than a preset number of pulses.
Abstract:
A dishwasher is provided. The dishwasher measures the amount of vibration caused by a drain pump, and terminates the operation of the drain pump if the amount of vibration measured exceeds a predefined vibration level. Thus, it is possible to precisely determine, during a drain operation, when a sump will be completely drained and thus prevent the drain pump from being driven any longer if no wash fluid remains in the sump. Therefore, it is possible to prevent excessive vibration and noise from being generated.
