    摘要: The present invention provides a translucent absorbent composite having a substrate with a light transmittance of at least about 60% and a flexible superabsorbent binder polymer composition applied to the substrate. The polymer composition may be prepared from the reaction product of a monomer solution including at least 15% by mass monoethylenically unsaturated monomer selected from carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid salts, sulphonic acid, sulphonic acid salts, phosphoric acid, or phosphoric acid salts; an acrylate or methacrylate ester that contains an alkoxysilane functionality; a copolymerizable hydrophilic glycol containing an ester monomer; an initiator system; and a neutralizing agent. The unsaturated monomer is neutralized to at least 25 mol % and the flexible superabsorbent binder polymer composition has a residual monoethylenically unsaturated monomer content of less than about 1000 ppm. The absorbent composite has a light transmittance of at least 45%. Also provided are absorbent articles containing the absorbent composite.

    摘要: A composition of a superabsorbent polymer and a process for using the polymer to absorb an aqueous electrlyte solution are disclosed. The composition comprises repeating units derived from: (a) an ampholytic ion pair prepared from a polymerizable vinylic tertiary amine-containing monomer and an acid having an ethylenic moiety; (b) at least one comonomer selected from the group consisting of acrylamide, methacrylamide, acrylonitrile, acrylic acid, ethacrylic acid, alkali salts of acrylic acid, alkali salts of methacrylic acid, 2-methacryloyloxyethyltrimethylamine, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, alkali salts of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, 2-methacryloyloxyethane sulfonic acid, alkali salts of 2-methacrylamidopropyldimethylamine, styrene sulfonic acid, alkali salts of styrene sulfonic acid, and N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone; and optionally, (c) at least one crosslinking agent which has at least two polymerizable olefinic functionalities wherein the olefinic functionalities are suitable for crosslinking.

Also disclosed is a process for absorbing large quantity of aqueous electrolyte solution employing the polymer compositions.

    摘要: The present invention provides crosslinked ampholytic copolymers that are highly absorbent to aqueous electrolyte solutions. The polymers of the present invention comprises polymers formed by the copolymerization of an effective amount of each of the following components to produce a polymer which is highly absorbent to aqueous electrolyte solutions:(a) an ampholytic ion pair monomer comprising(i) an ammonium cation 2-methacryloyloxyethyltrimethylammonium andii a sulfonate anion selected form the group consisting of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonate, 2-methacryloyloxethane sulfonate, vinyl sulfonate, styrene sulfonate and combinations of two or more thereof;(b) at least one comonomer selected from the group consisting of acrylamide, methacrylamide, acrylonitrile, acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, alkali salts of acrylic acid, alkali salts of methacrylic acid, 2-methacryloyloxyethyltrimethylamine, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, alkali salts of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, akali salts of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, 2-methacryloyloxyethane sulfonic acid, alkali salts of 2-methacryloyloxyethane sulfonic acid, N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone and combinations of two or more thereof; and(c) at least one crosslinking agent which has at least two polymerizable olefinic functionalities wherein the olefinic functionalities are suitable for crosslinking.The invention also provides a method of using the polymers of the present invention for absorbing aqueous electrolyte solutions comprising the step of contacting the polymers of the present invention with the aqueous electrolyte solution.
