    摘要: Cement compositions and methods of cementing within subterranean formations penetrated by well bores wherein the flow properties of one or more dry particulate cementitious materials are improved and wherein the materials can be readily conveyed out of storage tanks and the like. A preferred composition of the present invention comprises a particulate flow enhancing additive dry-blended with one or more dry particulate cementitious materials, said flow enhancing additive being comprised of a particulate solid material carrying a flow inducing polar chemical, and a sufficient amount of water to form a pumpable slurry. The methods basically include the steps of dry-blending the particulate flow enhancing additive with the one or more dry particulate cementitious materials; forming a pumpable slurry using the one or more cementitious materials having the particulate flow enhancing additive blended therewith; pumping the slurry into a well bore; and then allowing the slurry to solidify within the subterranean formation.

    摘要: Apparatus and methods for determining suitable displacement fluids for use in subterranean cementing operations, and methods of cementing that use such displacement fluids, are provided. Examples of methods include methods of water-wetting an annulus in a subterranean formation having an oleaginous-external/aqueous-internal fluid disposed on at least a portion of one or more surfaces of the annulus. Another example of a method is a method of using an inverter fluid in a subterranean formation that includes a tubular string disposed therein having an annular region adjacent the outer surface of the tubular string, at least part of the annular region having an oleaginous-external/aqueous-internal fluid on a surface thereof. Another example of a method of the present invention is a method of identifying an inverter fluid to use for inverting an oleaginous-external/aqueous-internal fluid in a subterranean formation.

    摘要: Cement comprising barite, a process for preparing such cement, and methods of cementing in a subterranean formation or well bore using such cement are provided. The cement is prepared by introducing coarse barite to the cement, the course barite comprising particles having a particle size primarily greater than about 125 microns. Preferably, 90 percent of the barite particles is greater than about 125 microns in size. The presence of the coarse barite in the cement causes the cement to have a relatively low viscosity. Introducing the barite to the cement also increases the density of the cement, thus rendering the cement capable of controlling high hydrostatic pressures in a well bore.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for plugging a well. The apparatus includes a well barrier which may be connected to a pipe string and lowered into a well to a selected plug location. The barrier is held in place by the pipe string at the selected plug location. The well barrier will engage the well at the selected plug location. A plugging fluid is displaced through the pipe string and is communicated into the well above the barrier. The well barrier will catch the plugging fluid. After the plugging fluid gels sufficiently to support itself in the well, the pipe string which was utilized to lower the well barrier can be disconnected from the well barrier and removed from the well after the plugging fluid has been allowed to set to a sufficient gel strength. The well barrier consists of a support pipe connected to the pipe string, and a fluid barrier connected thereto. The fluid barrier comprises a webbing disposed about the support pipe and a plurality of support members hingedly connected to the support pipe which allows the support members to rotate outwardly to engage the well at the selected plug location.
