    摘要: There is provided a single ply label for labelling a dry cell battery having an elongate peripheral case defining an axis and opposed ends enclosing a direct current, electrical energy providing core. The label is formed of a transparent, self-supporting, substantially monoaxially oriented, heat shrinkable polymer film backing having an outer surface and an inner surface, a width sufficient for the backing to embrace the battery case and provide, at opposed ends, first and second edges which extend parallel to the axis of the battery and meet in at least abutting relationship, and a length for extending beyond the opposed ends of the battery and lap over onto the opposed third and fourth ends of the battery. An alkali-resistant, electrically non-conductive, opaque, pigmented layer is applied to the inner surface of and supported by the backing. An electrically non-conductive, pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is applied over the pigmented layer at least along the first and second edges. The pressure-sensitive adhesive has sufficient peel adhesion to prevent lifting of an applied label from the case of the battery and sufficient shear strength to prevent relative movement of adhered first edges on heat shrinkage of an adhesively applied backing about the battery case.

    摘要: A method of making RFID devices includes feeding in an interposer web or sheet at a variable (non-constant) speed, cutting single interposers from the interposer web or sheet, and using a rotary transport device to transport the singulated (cut) interposers to an antenna web. The interposers are transferred from the rotary transport device and are attached to the antenna web, being operatively coupled to antennas on the antenna web. The interposers each include an RFID transponder chip and conductive leads. A feeder is used to advance the interposer web or sheet into a cutting zone between the rotary cutter and the rotary transport device. The rotary cutting device may be capable of singulating multiple interposers at one time, and the system may be capable of thus being able to remove interposers that are not to be joined to the antenna web.

    摘要: A label for an electrochemical cell with a condition tester for the cell integrated with the label to form a label/tester composite is disclosed. The label/tester composite comprises a thermochromic coating in thermal contact with an electrically conductive coating. The label/tester composite is preferably constructed by applying an adhesive to the inside surface of a heat shrinkable base film forming part of the label. A substructure containing a cured conductive coating and preferably also a thermochromic coating is formed on a releasable web. The substructure is transferred from the releasable web to the inside surface of the heat shrinkable base film and in contact with a portion of the adhesive on the base film. A patterned partition insulating coating is then applied over the transferred conductive coating. The label/tester composite is applied to the cell housing. The integrated tester may be manually activated by depressing one or two regions on the surface of the composite. The conductive coating becomes heated and the generated heat causes changes along the thermochromic coating to indicate the condition of the cell.
