    摘要: Methods for producing ligand arrays, e.g., peptide and nucleic acid arrays, as well as the arrays produced thereby, methods for use of the arrays and kits that include the same are provided. In one embodiment of the subject methods, a substrate having a surface displaying acetate functional groups that produce surface bound hydroxyl functional groups upon hydrolysis is first provided, where the acetate groups are then hydrolyzed to hydroxyl functional groups. In another embodiment of the subject methods, a substrate having a surface displaying alkenyl functional groups is first provided, where the alkenyl functional groups are then converted to carboxylic functional groups. The resultant substrates, optionally after an additional functionalization step, are then contacted with ligands, e.g., via deposition of each different ligand onto a different region of the surface, resulting in covalent attachment of the contacted ligands to the surface. The subject methods find use in the preparation of a variety of different types of arrays, where the produced arrays find use in a variety of different applications, including both genomic and proteomic applications.

    摘要: A color organic electroluminescent device includes color filters, light emitting layers and substrate integrated into a single assembly, with the light emitting layers lying between the substrate and the color filters. Unlike color electroluminescent devices where an image must be viewed through a transparent substrate, or where color filters are deposited upon another device and later combined with the assembly, the present disclosure calls for a transparent protective layer of silicon nitride or a similar material to be deposited over the light emitting layers to protect the light emitting layers from oxygen and moisture, and to serve as a platform for color filters. In order to achieve sufficient density in the protective layer and avoid defects, a cold plasma deposition or similar process is used for deposition of the protective layer. By viewing light through this protective layer instead of a substrate, nearly any substrate can be used.

    摘要: A method for synthesizing a polynucleotide is disclosed. The method comprises providing a functionalized support comprising a triaryl methyl linker bound to the solid support through a substitution on one of the aryl groups, a nucleotide chain bound to the central methyl carbon of the triaryl methyl group and a nucleoside with a reactive site hydroxyl. The method further provides contacting that functionalized support with a precursor having a hydroxyl protecting group and a phosphorous derivative reactive group to produce internucleotide linkage. The resulting compound is then treated to both remove the hydroxyl protecting group on the precursor, and to oxidize the internucleotide bond.

    摘要: Low surface energy functionalized surfaces on solid supports are provided by contacting a surface of a solid substrate having reactive moieties on the surface with a solution of an organic solvent and water. The surface of the solid substrate is then contacted with a derivatizing composition containing a mixture of silanes. A first silane provides the desired reduction in surface energy, while the second silane enables functionalization with molecular moieties of interest, such as small molecules. Molecular moieties of interest may be attached through cleavable sites. Derivatizing compositions for carrying out the surface functionalization process are provided as well.
