Abstract: A self-contained illumination device (10) for attachment to a container, e.g. to the base of a bottle, comprises a printed circuit board (12), with LEDs (14) attached to the central region of a liquid-impervious flexible pad (11). The central region is surrounded by an annular adhesive region which is arranged to attach the pad to the container in liquid-tight manner. The pad comprises a base layer (32) of plasticized paper or PVC, covered by an adhesive layer (34) and, before attachment to the container, a peripheral layer (36) of a release paper.

Abstract: A system and method are employed for the creation of test procedures. Through use of a data network (12), remotely located users may access the system and either retrieve existing test procedures or create new ones. Further, the system provides the capability to combine new procedures with pre-existing templates. The system may provide a number of sections (44-60) in which a system user may enter information for creating a test procedure. Further functions are provided to edit test procedure (32), copy, rename or delete test procedures, as well as submit a test procedure (38) for approval. Following acceptance and approval (40) of the test procedure the facility to execute the procedure exists. The system user enters the required information into the fields provided in the automated procedure and executes the procedure documenting each step and entering notes or flag information during the interactive session. The results are documented and time tagged for later review and acceptance by the appropriate parties.

Abstract: A modular lighting system (100) comprising a plurality of interconnected generally planar units (15, 115, 215), each unit having at least one illumination element (31), and an electrical circuit for connection to an adjacent unit and comprising a respective sensor (16, 17) associated with each illumination element, the sensor being arranged to be actuated by the presence of an article over or adjacent to the respective illumination element, and the system being controlled such that when the presence of one or more articles is sensed, the illumination is enabled of one of the illumination elements. Each unit has a further sensor (45) for detecting the approach of a person and illumination is effected only when both said presence sensor and said further sensor are actuated. The further sensor may be a proximity sensor, a vibration sensor or temperature sensing means.

Abstract: In a display device (10) resembling a bottle and having electroluminescent display segments (12) resembling a spectrum analyser in the place of a label, the display segments are arranged to produce different display effects in response to differing sound levels as detected by a microphone (30). A control circuit (20) for the display segments detects an average sound level and adjusts the power supplied to the microphone in response thereto.
