摘要: A valve assembly for use with a catheter assembly is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve housing defining a longitudinal axis and adapted for fluid engagement with a catheter assembly. The valve housing has an internal passageway for flow of fluids relative to the catheter assembly. A valve member is at least partially disposed within the valve housing and defines a valve passage. The valve member is adapted for movement within the valve housing between an open position wherein the valve passage is in general alignment with the internal passageway of the valve housing to permit flow of fluids through the valve housing, and a closed position to substantially occlude the internal passageway of the valve housing. An actuation mechanism is selectively movable in a general longitudinal direction to cause corresponding movement of the valve member between the open position and the closed position.

摘要: Roofing granules having surfaces treated with an oil and an elastomeric rubber. The elastomeric rubber can be an organic block copolymer having elastomeric and nonelastomeric repeating units. The oil and rubber are applied to the roofing granules' surfaces as a thin film. The thin film of oil and rubber impedes granule staining from oils in asphalt roofing materials, and reduces dust formation during granule handling. Also disclosed is a roofing shingle and a process for making the roofing granule composition.

摘要: A satellite tracking antenna system for use on board ship as part of a maritime communications satellite terminal is disclosed. The system has a directional antenna which is continually trained in the direction of the satellite so as to receive signals therefrom and transmit thereto in spite of the continual rolling, pitching and turning movement of the ship as it travels along its course, even in heavy seas. The system includes a platform which is adapted to be mounted at the head of the mast of the ship. A servo control unit receives position and angular rate signals from roll and pitch sensors mounted on the platform, and serves to counteract pitch and roll without the need for gyroscopic stabilization means so that the platform always remains level regardless of the pitching and rolling of the ship. A structure including the antenna, is mounted on the platform for rotation in azimuth and elevation. A heading input unit receives synchro information from the ship's gyrocompass by way of a gyrocompass converter which translates this information into digital form. The heading input unit also receives azimuth information regarding the position of the satellite as well as elevation data, also regarding the position of the satellite. Azimuth and elevation control servos operated by control signals from the heading input unit train the antenna in azimuth and elevation so that it points in the direction of the satellite. Yawing or turning is counteracted by the heading input unit which modifies the azimuth control signal in accordance with the data as to the ship's heading from the gyrocompass converter. The direction of the pointing of the antenna, to accommodate slow changes in latitude and longitude as the ship moves along its course which causes a change in satellite position relative to the ship, is accommodated by either changing the elevation and azimuth data provided to the heading input unit or by means of an automatic satellite position update unit which changes the heading input data to the azimuth and elevation servos in accordance with changes in the strength of the signal received by the antenna from the satellite. A system for converting angle data from synchro or step repeaters into digital data which may be used in the gyrocompass converter is also described. A system for controlling the speed and direction of a stepper motor in response to control voltages which does not require tachometers or other feedback control is described in connection with the servo control system in the pitch and roll servo units and in the azimuth and elevation servo units.

摘要: An architecture for providing high-speed access over frequency-division multiplexed (FDM) channels allows transmission of ethernet frames and/or other data across a cable transmission network or other form of FDM transport. The architecture involves downstream and upstream FDM multiplexing techniques to allow contemporaneous, parallel communications across a plurality of frequency channels. Furthermore, the architecture allows a central concentrator to support a plurality of remote devices that each have guaranteed bandwidth through connection-oriented allocations of bi-directional data flows. The upstream and downstream bandwidth allocation can support symmetrical bandwidth as well as asymmetrical bandwidth in either direction. The architecture generally can be used to support connection-oriented physical layer connectivity between a remote device and the central concentrator. Furthermore, the architecture may be integrated into other higher level devices such as, but not limited to, bridges, switches, routers, and/or gateways. In addition, the architecture may be used as a local network such as the networks commonly called local area networks (LANs). As a local network, the architecture supports guaranteed bandwidth for delivery of data flows to a plurality of host devices. Each host device might have a network interface card (NIC) that conforms to the architecture of the preferred embodiments of the present invention. Moreover, because the architecture may peacefully coexist with other services commonly-found in cable distribution networks, these other services may also be delivered to a host device. Thus, as a non-limiting example a host device may utilize the preferred embodiments of the present invention for local area network (LAN) data communication, and may also utilize cable television video channels in the same communication medium to carry various multimedia information.
