    摘要: A biometric authentication system includes: an image acquisition unit for acquiring an image of a living body; a light source with a predetermined wavelength band; an authentication information storage unit for, if light is emitted by the light source, setting a predetermined distance for a first distance to a first image acquired by the image acquisition unit in a depth direction so that quality of the first image is improved, extracting a first feature to be used to perform biometric authentication from the first image whose quality has been improved, and storing authentication information regarding the first feature; a feature extraction unit for, if light is emitted by the light source when performing authentication, setting the predetermined distance for a second distance to a second image acquired by the image acquisition unit in the depth direction so that quality of the second image is improved, and extracting a second feature for biometric authentication from the second image whose quality has been improved; and a comparison unit for comparing the authentication information regarding the first feature and authentication information regarding the second feature.

    摘要: A concentration measurement method by an absorptiometric method which measures a concentration of a first solute component dissolved in a solution, in which the first solute component interacts with a solvent, includes: referring to an absorption coefficient (μaw(λ)) of the solvent; measuring an absorption coefficient (μa(λ)) of a first sample material, after an interaction between the solvent and the first solute component has occurred; and obtaining an unknown volume fraction (vg) of the first solute component and a volume fraction (vw) of the solvent, based on the absorption coefficient (μaw(λ)) of the solvent, a apparent absorption coefficient (μ′ag(λ)) of the first solute component, and the absorption coefficient (μa(λ)) of the first sample material.

    摘要: A personal verification device includes a fingerprint sensor which detects a fingerprint of an operator, and a pulse wave sensor which detects a pulse wave of the operator. An index extraction section processes the pulse wave detected by the pulse wave sensor and extracts at least one index. First reference information which is compared with a fingerprint is stored in a first reference information storage section. Second reference information which is compared with the at least one index is stored in a second reference information storage section. A verification section outputs a signal indicating that the operator is true when it is determined that the operator is a registered person based on the result of comparison between the fingerprint and the first reference information, and it is determined that the operator is alive based on the result of comparison between the at least one index and the second reference information.

    摘要: An ink cartridge that is filled with ink and, used with the ink cartridge loaded into a printer includes a reservoir that reserves the ink, an outlet through which the ink is supplied to the printer with the ink cartridge loaded, at least one ink supply system that includes a channel that leads the ink from the reservoir to the outlet, and a sensor that detects whether the channel is filled with the ink or gas, an ink cartridge terminal that is electrically coupled to the sensor and makes contact with a printer terminal disposed on the printer upon loading of the ink cartridge. A detection region of the channel where detection is carried out by the sensor is previously filled with gas with the ink cartridge yet to be used. Whether or not the use of the ink cartridge is proper is determined based on information from the sensor.
