摘要:
A film consisting of a fine powder of zinc oxide and titanium oxide and an inorganic binder is formed on the outer surface of a light source. The fine powder serves as an absorbent for ultraviolet radiation emitted from the light source. The film is formed on the outer surface by spraying a coating agent prepared by dispersing the above components in an organic solvent on the outer surface of the light source and heating and drying the coating agent.

A fluorescent lamp includes a light-transmitting envelope, means for generating a discharge within envelope, a discharge sustaining fill contained in envelope for emitting ultraviolet rays during the lamp operation and a phosphor layer coated on an inner surface of envelope. The phosphor layer converts the ultraviolet rays into visible light and ultraviolet radiation within a wavelength range of 320 nm to 410 nm so as to have radiant flux ratio of ultraviolet radiation of 5 to 50 percent of the entire radiant flux of the lamp.
摘要:
A fluorescent lamp including, a bulb having an outer surface and an inner surface, discharge gas contained in the bulb and generating ultraviolet rays by a discharge thereof, a pair of electrodes provided to the bulb for generating the discharge, a phosphor film formed on the inner surface of the bulb and having a non-uniform thickness thereof, and an ultraviolet suppressing film for suppressing the ultraviolet rays formed to be faced with the phosphor film, characterized in that the ultraviolet suppressing film has non-uniform ability for suppressing ultraviolet rays penetrating the phosphor film in accordance with portions thereof to decrease the difference in the intensity of the ultraviolet rays emitted from the ultraviolet suppressing film.

Disclosed is a halophosphate phosphor activated with divalent europium, which is represented by the formula:M.sub.5-a X(PO.sub.4).sub.3 :Eu.sup.2+ (a),RE(b),wherein M represents three alkaline earth metals consisting of barium, calcium and magnesium; X represents at least one of fluorine, chlorine and bromine; RE represents at least one of rare earth elements selected from the group consisting of ytterbium, neodymium, samarium, dysprosium, holmium and thulium; and a and b each represent a positive number of less than 5.Disclosed is also a fluorescent lamp which comprises a glass tube and a mixture of a halophosphate phosphor activated with divalent europium represented by the above formula and a strontium-magnesium orthophosphate phosphor activated with tin represented by the formula: (Sr,Mg).sub.3 (PO.sub.4).sub.2 :Sn, the mixture being coated on inside wall of the glass tube. The halophosphate phosphor of this invention can decrease to a greater extent the afterglow as compared with those known in the prior art, without loss of the luminescence intensity. The fluorescent lamp of this invention has large initial luminous flux and luminous flux-maintaining efficient, color rendering at 4,200 to 5,600 K classified into the EDL type, afterglow time being shortened to the level at which any problem does not arise in practical use.
