A fiber switching mechanism of a lighting system for passing a light through one of n optical fibers corresponding to n channels sequentially is provided midway in n optical fibers of the lighting system corresponding to n channels such that lights from n optical fibers of a receiving system can be commonly received by a single spectroscope. With the fiber switching mechanism of the lighting system, it is possible to obtain measuring data of reflection spectrum of n optical thin film sensor portions by the single spectroscope.

The present invention provides a raw material 1 used for production of GaAs crystals by utilizing solidification of melt, wherein As 12 is accommodated in the inside of Ga 10, 11. Because As 12 is covered with Ga 10, 11, As 12 is not brought into contact with the air and can thus be conveyed without oxidizing As 12. The raw material 1 can be heated and melted as such to produce GaAs crystals by the Czochralski method.

A method for recovering platinum group elements comprises charging an oxide raw material entraining platinum group elements, copper oxide, solid carbonaceous reducing agent and flux into a closed electric furnace equipped with at least one electrode for heating material and a roof for substantially shielding material charged into the furnace from the exterior atmosphere. The charged material is melted and reduced to form a layer of molten metal under a molten slag layer and enrich platinum group elements in this molten metal. The oxide raw material, copper oxide, solid carbonaceous reducing agent and flux are prepared as powdery or particulate materials, premixed and then charged into the electric furnace. The heat-melted material in the furnace is allowed to stand at a temperature of 1200° to 1500° C. for at least 5 hours, with the molten metal containing platinum group elements then being discharged outside the furnace.
