    摘要: Auxiliary lighting is added to military vehicles in response to civilian national emergencies permitting the vehicles to function as emergency vehicles. The auxiliary lights are attached to the military vehicles by employing military standard optical devices such as reflectors already mounted on the vehicles. This method of attaching the auxiliary lights avoids unacceptable modification of the military vehicles and reduces the complexity and time required to install the auxiliary lights. The attachment method also facilitates removal of the auxiliary lighting. Therefore temporary auxiliary lighting can be added to and removed from the military vehicle with a minimal use of tools or time. The auxiliary lighting is positioned on the military vehicle such that the emitted light beams are directed as required for the function the light is expected to perform. The auxiliary lights can be floodlights, warning lights, clearance or marker lights.

The operating parameters change in response to changes in ambient conditions thereby changing the performance characteristics of the LED light source. The circuit determines at least one operating parameter, compares the operating parameter with the target parameter and changes the energizing waveform applied to the LED light source for changing the effective power applied to the LED light source for maintaining the operating parameter in conformance with a target relationship with the target parameter.

    摘要: A multi-functional illuminator comprising a directional illuminator and a removably attachable optic. The directional illuminator is typified by a flashlight projecting light forward to illuminate an object in front of the flashlight. The present invention discloses an optic removably attached to the directional illuminator intersecting and redistributing the light emitted by the directional illuminator to provide illumination satisfactory for tasks not achievable with the directional light beam. The optic employs reflection, refracting and/or diffusing optics to efficiently redirect the light. The optic can be designed so that the redirected light is distributed throughout the hemisphere, concentrated about a plane perpendicular to the axis of the directed light beam or to effect any one of a plurality of possible illumination patterns. If the directional illuminator comprises a covert design minimizing its lateral visibility, the optic can change this characteristic making it highly laterally visible.

    摘要: A stepped intensity electric road flare having a housing supporting a circuit. The circuit comprises an led light source, a power controller and a power supply. The power controller energizes the led light source with the power supply such that the led light source emits a varying light having at least one perceived fixed intensity within a range of emitted intensities. The road flare of the present invention provides a perceived steady light having a perceived fixed intensity during a portion or time zone of its waveform thereby communicating its exact location. In addition because its intensity changes during other portions or time zones of its waveform it also demands attention. The present invention is therefore an attention getting safety device communicating its exact location. The present invention both alerts drivers to a hazard and guides them past the hazard. In addition the emitted light of the present invention is of a reddish color and concentrated by an optic into a powerful light beam. An incendiary road flare also emits a powerful light having a reddish color and, at portions of its burn cycle, perceived as a steady light. An incendiary road flare also varies its intensity during its burn cycle. Therefore the electric road flare of the present invention emits light having characteristics similar to the characteristics of the light emitted by an incendiary road flare. The present invention therefore both alerts and guides drivers with an effectiveness similar to that of the incendiary road flare.

    摘要: A vehicular warning light has multiple segments of concave parabolic reflectors assembled for cooperative spreading of the light emitted from a single electric lamp to form an elongated wide angle beam of light in a horizontal plane for alerting the neighborhood to the presence and movement of the emergency vehicle. The axis of revolution of each parabolic reflector is assembled at a differing azimuth angle within the common horizontal plane and the focal points and focal planes of the respective reflectors are dispersed. The equivalent center point of the single light source is therefore defocused relative to at least some of the reflectors. The axis of the elongated light source is centered on the common horizontal plane and is parallel to the fluted light cover lens which is contoured for efficiency in light transmission from the multiple reflectors and for additional spreading and luminous uniformity.
