摘要： A relay device using a conductive fluid and having excellent switching response is provided. This relay device mainly comprises a laminate having an interior space, and formed by bonding a semiconductor substrate to an insulating substrate, at least two contacts exposed to the interior space, a diaphragm portion facing the interior space, a conductive fluid sealed in the interior space, and an actuator for elastically deforming the diaphragm portion. By forming the diaphragm portion on the semiconductor substrate, it is possible to reduce a driving force of the actuator needed to elastically deform the diaphragm portion, and obtain a volume change of the interior space with good response. This volume change causes a positional displacement of the conductive fluid in the interior space, thereby forming a conductive state or a non-conductive sate between the contacts.

摘要： Sheaths accommodate a high-voltage conductor in their insides, and annular grooves are respectively provided in flanges of the sheaths outwardly of inserting holes for bolts which are disposed in annular form. Annular grooves are provided in an insulating spacer inwardly of the inserting holes for the bolts. O-rings are respectively provided in the annular grooves. An annular groove is also formed in a flange connection face so as to have bolt inserting holes at its bottom. After the flanges have been fixed by using the bolts, nuts and sealing washers, a liquid packing is injected into the flange connection face groove through a liquid packing injection opening which communicates with the groove. Since a sealing element is disposed outwardly of the bolt holes, it is possible to prevent penetration of rainwater or the like into the gaps between connected flanges with airtightness being retained. It is also possible to readily inject the liquid packing into the gaps between the flanges. By using sealing washers, it is possible to more readily inject the liquid packing into the gaps between the flanges.

摘要： A terminal, such as a group 4 (G4) facsimile, coupled to an integrated services digital network has a function for setting up a confirmation call for automatically detecting a change of a different terminal, from a group 3 (G3) facsimile to a G4 facsimile. The G4 facsimile has a memory for memorizing information of a different terminal, such as, for example, a calling number, a short formed calling number under an abbreviated dialing mode, and a corresponding identification whether the different terminal conforms to a G3 or G4 facsimile procedure. The G4 facsimile sets up a confirmation call under the G4 facsimile procedure to confirm whether or not the different terminal has been updated to a G4 facsimile, only at a time of when the different terminal is identified as being conformable to the G3 facsimile procedure by the identification, and, optionally, when an arbitrary time period, which is memorized in the calling G4 facsimile, is exceeded. Upon succeeding in connecting to the different terminal by the confirmation call, the G4 facsimile carries on data transmission until completing the call process, and also updates the identification.
