摘要: A variable length code decoder includes modified VLC decode tables as compared to table b.14 and b.15 of Annex B of the ISO/IEC 31818-2 standard, and improved program code for inverse quantising block DCT coefficients. The modified VLC decoding tables include level values corresponding to VLC coded words that have been pre-multiplied by the value 2, or by 2 then plus 1. As a result, the modified tables of the present invention reduces the computational complexity of the inverse quantization calculation of the method of the present invention as compared to the algorithm provided in ISO/IEC 31818-2, section 7. Advantageously, the bandwidth requirement of the inverse quantiser processor is reduced as compared to the bandwidth requirement of an inverse processor executing the inverse quantization calculation as defined in the Standard. Conveniently, lower cost, and more widely available processors may be used in the decoder of the present invention.

摘要: A three-phase dc to-ac power inverter includes a dc power source with a first dc node for positive voltage, a second dc node for negative voltage, and a third dc node for zero voltage. A set of three-level pole circuits are connected to the first dc node, the second dc node, and the third dc node of the dc power source. A control circuit, responsive to an inverter voltage vector reference demand signal with a voltage magnitude reference demand component and a voltage phase reference demand component, generates pole control signals for the three-level pole circuits using logic circuitry which combines phase indexed digital waveform values stored in a pair of lookup tables. The pole control signals force the three-level pole circuits to generate a set of phase-shifted waveforms with zero voltage components. The phase-shifted waveforms are combined by a set of transformers to produce a three-phase output voltage with a harmonic content lower than the harmonic content of the phase-shifted waveforms.

摘要: An optical communication system for free space communication includes an optical source including a modulator to modulate the optical output to provide an optical signal. The optical source is connected to an optical fiber to pass the signal therealong. The optical fiber includes an antenna having an optical fiber transmit portion with a core, and a cladding, the cladding including at least one substantially flat surface extending along its length and arranged to couple light out of the optical fiber through the substantially flat surface(s). A scattering structure scatters into free space light thus coupled out of the fiber.

摘要: A firearm barrel cleaning brush includes a body, a first swab portion affixed to the body, a bristle brush portion affixed to the body, and a second swab portion affixed to the body. The bristle brush portion is proximate to the first swab portion, and is positioned closer to an end of the body than the first swab portion. The second swab portion is proximate to the bristle brush portion, and is positioned closer to the end of the body than the bristle brush portion. In one embodiment, the cleaning brush is secured to a flexible cleaning rod having a pull-through handle having a base, a swivel, and a handle portion attached to the base by the swivel. The handle portion has a closed position adapted for passage through the firearm barrel, and an open position adapted for pulling the cleaning rod and barrel cleaning brush through the firearm barrel.

摘要: A method for estimating a system state, in a decentralized network having a plurality of nodes, each node being confined for receiving and sending information, and for processing information. Each node being connected to neighboring nodes of the network. At each node the method includes: (i) maintaining a set of particles and associated weights, which represent an estimate of the system state, (ii) representing the estimated system state as a mixture of Gaussian distributions in a channel filter, and communicating the mixture to neighboring nodes, and (iii) a neighboring node receiving the mixture in a channel filter that contains a similar Gaussian representation of its own estimate of system state, and dividing the incoming mixture by the existing mixture, for updating the estimate of the system state that is maintained at the node.

摘要: An apparatus and method are disclosed for analysing a process. An exemplary method includes: generating a process template; and determining a probabilistic model specifying the process template. The method can include use of task nodes for tasks of the process; observables nodes for observables that may be caused by performance of the tasks; and a background activities node, wherein observables may further be caused by background activities of the background node. The method can include use of task nodes for tasks of the process; observables nodes for observables that may be caused by performance of the tasks; and a background activities node, observables may further be caused by background activities of the background node. The method can include measuring values of an observable corresponding to one of the observables nodes; and updating a probabilistic estimate of the process state using the measured values.

摘要: A method and system are disclosed for tracking a target imaged in video footage. The target may, for example, be a person moving through a crowd The method comprises the steps of: identifying a target in a first frame; generating a population of sub-templates by sampling from a template area defined around the target position; and searching for instances of the sub-templates in a second frame so as to locate the target in the second frame. Sub-templates whose instances are not consistent with the new target position are removed from the population and replaced by newly sampled sub-templates. The method can then be repeated so as to find the target in further frames. It can be implemented in a system comprising video imaging means, such as a CCTV camera, and processing means operable to carry out the method.
