摘要:
The disclosure is directed to glass frits materials containing phosphors that can be used in LED lighting devices and for methods associated therewith for making the phosphor containing frit materials. Suitable non-lead glasses have a composition, in mol %, in the range of 20-24% K2O, 8-12% ZnO, 2-6% Al2O3, 35-41% B2O3 and 22-28 SiO2. Suitable leaded glasses have a composition, in wt %, in range of 72-79% PbO, 8-13% Al2O3, 8-13% B2O3, 2-5% SiO2 and 0-0.3% Sb2O3. Commercial high-lead glass can be used in practicing the disclosure. Among the unique advantages are the ability to blend two or more phosphors within the same frit layer which will yield a multi-phosphor-containing glass after firing; the ability to deposit the phosphor onto a substrate into a desired geometric pattern; and the fluorescing layer can be applied to the active plane, with the glass serving as protective substrate.

A method of fowling an opal layer on an optically transparent alkali-silicate glass sheet, wherein a liquidus viscosity of the alkali silicate glass forming the sheet is at least about 200,000 poise, a liquidus temperature of the alkali silicate glass is equal to or less than about 1200° C. and wherein the exposed surface of the glass sheet after the exposing comprises an opal layer. The method includes exposing a surface of the optically transparent alkali silicate glass sheet to an alkali metal salt bath at a temperature equal to or greater than 300° C. for at least 5 minutes.

A system, method, and ink for printing a data carrying mark on a green ceramic honeycomb structure is provided. The system includes a printer having an ink jet print head that prints a mark, preferably in the form of a two-dimensional data matrix barcode, on a side wall of the green ceramic honeycomb structure. The ink may be a heat resistant ink that comprises a mixture of a glass or glass ceramic frit and a metal oxide colorant. An optical reader is provided for determining if the data is accurately reproduced in the printed mark, as well as any noise factor which may be present due to defective printing. The system includes a turntable that positions the green body for the printing operation, and then rotates the green body to position the printed mark first in front of a dryer, and then in front of the optical reader to determine the quality of the mark. Marked green and ceramic honeycombs are also provided as well as a method for repairing a defective applied bar code on a honeycomb structure.

Opal glass compositions and devices incorporating opal glass compositions are described herein. The compositions solve problems associated with the use of opal glasses as light-scattering layers in electroluminescent devices, such as organic light-emitting diodes. In particular, embodiments solve the problem of high light absorption within the opal glass layer as well as the problem of an insufficiently high refractive index that results in poor light collection by the layer. Particular devices comprise light-emitting diodes incorporating light scattering layers formed of high-index opal glasses of high light scattering power that exhibit minimal light attenuation through light absorption within the matrix phases of the glasses.

A reactive-ceramming process for making YPO4 ceramics involving the reaction between a YP-glass and a Y-source material. The invention can be used to synthesize, inter alia, phase-pure YPO4 ceramic material 5 at a relatively low temperature in a relatively short period of time and at a low cost. Invention can be used to make large piece of YPO4 blocks suitable for, e.g., an isopipe in a fusion down-draw process for making large-size glass sheets.

An ion exchangeable glass that is free of lithium and comprising 0.1-10 mol % P2O5 and at least 5 mol % Al2O3. The presence of P2O5 enables the glass to be ion exchanged more quickly and to a greater depth than comparable glasses that do not contain P2O5.

Photovoltaic devices having light scattering articles having a smooth surface are described herein. Glass frits on glass superstrates can provide planar surfaces for subsequent layer deposition such as TCO layers and yet provide light scattering functions within, for example, silicon tandem photovoltaic devices. Methods of making the light scattering articles with a planar surface include depositing unfilled or filled glass frits on planar or surface-textured superstrates and sintering of the glass frit. The compositions of the glass frits can be tailored to match, for example, the expansion properties and physical properties of the glass superstrates.
