    摘要: A cylindrically-shaped engine cooler for automobiles comprises a pair of water tanks or main coolant tubes, a plurality of water tubes connecting the water tanks or main coolant tubes, a plurality of cooling fins and at least one cooling fans. The cylindrical engine cooler is disposed in a vehicle so that the axis line of the cooler crosses the traveling line of a vehicle so that the air resistance against vehicle travel becomes small. The water tanks or main coolant tube can be used as the shroud for accommodating the cooling fan, when they are annularly shaped and disposed at the end of the cylindrically cooler. Two cooling fans disposed at the both ends of the cylindrically-shaped cooler may have different air-blowing capacity each other.

    摘要: An engine cooling system for an automotive vehicle has a cross-flow fan driven by a motor coupled thereto for producing an air flow through a radiator disposed in front of the cross-flow fan. The cross-flow fan is housed in a casing assembly composed of an upper casing, a lower casing, and a pair of lateral casings for guiding the air flow through the cross-flow fan. The upper casing has a curved portion covering a portion of the cross-flow fan for preventing an air flow from counteracting rotation of the fan. Means may be provided for retractably covering the portion of the fan to prevent the counteracting air flow only when the automotive vehicle runs at a certain speed or higher. Such means comprises a triangular portion of the upper casing hinged for angular movement between a fan covering position and a position to define an additional air flow passage. Alternatively, the means comprises a coiled resilient member having one end retractably extending through the upper casing in the vicinity of the fan. According to other embodiments, a plurality of vertically spaced cross-flow fans are housed respectively by a plurality of vertically arranged casing assemblies.

    摘要: A cooling system for an internal combustion engine with an intercooler has a pump with a single drive shaft which drives two sets of vanes. One set of vanes circulates coolant through a circuit including the engine block, and the other circulates fluid through a circuit including the intercooler. Around the rotary impeller of the pump is a clearance to allow communication between the circuits. Thus, the intercooler can function as an intake air heater when cold-starting the engine, idling without supercharging, or operating the engine in the region of low engine rpm's.
