摘要： A deflection yoke on a yoke mounting portion with a truncated pyramid shape has a pair of saddle-type horizontal deflecting coils that is located symmetrically with a central axis and has a truncated pyramid shape. A core with a truncated cone shape is coaxially located on the outer periphery of the horizontal deflecting coils. A pair of vertical deflecting coils are toroidally wound around the core. If the positions of a horizontal axis and a vertical axis are given by 0° and 90°, respectively, in the circumference direction around the central axis, the winding of one vertical deflecting coil has a starting point on the horizontal-axis side within the range of 5°-30° and is distributed from the starting point to 90° and wound symmetrically with the vertical axis. The windings of the vertical deflecting coils are wound symmetrically with the horizontal axis.

摘要： An electron gun assembly of a color cathode ray tube emits at least one electron beam having an oblong cross-sectional shape extending substantially in the horizontal direction, and emits three electron beams in a substantially non-convergent state toward the central portion of a phosphor screen. A deflection device comprises an auxiliary magnetic field generator for generating a quadrupole magnetic field component which focuses the electron beam with an oblong cross section more heavily in the horizontal direction than in the vertical direction. The auxiliary magnetic field generator is located in a given region in a tube-axis direction in which the horizontally deflecting coil is located.

摘要： A color cathode ray tube comprises a face panel having a phosphor screen formed on the inner surface thereof and a shadow mask. A mask body of the shadow mask has an effective surface opposed to the phosphor screen and formed having a plurality of electron beam passage apertures. The face panel and mask body are formed so as to establish relations: ZPD>ZPV>ZPH, ZMD>ZMH>ZMV, ZPD ZMV, where ZPD, ZPH, and ZPV are sags at a diagonal-axis end, horizontal-axis end, and vertical-axis end, respectively, with respect to the center of the inner surface of the face panel, and ZMD, ZMH, and ZMV are sags at the individual axis ends with respect to the center of the effective surface of the mask body.

摘要： The outer surface of a panel effective section of a vacuum envelope is substantially flattened. A phosphor screen is formed on the inner surface of the effective section and includes stripe-shaped phosphor layers and light absorption layers arranged in parallel. The panel effective section is formed such that a corner portion is 8 mm to 15 mm thicker than the central portion and the transmittance of the central portion is set at 40% to 60%. The phosphor screen is formed such that the ratio of the width of a light absorption layer to the pitch of phosphor layers in the central portion of the panel effective section is larger than or equal to that in the peripheral portion thereof. A shadow mask is opposed to the phosphor screen and has a mask body in which a number of electron beam passage apertures are formed. The pitch of apertures formed in the peripheral portion of the mask body is 1.3 to 1.4 times as large as that of apertures formed in the central portion thereof.

摘要： A shadow mask of a color cathode-ray tube has a substantially rectangular mask main body and a substantially rectangular mask frame fixed to a skirt portion of the mask main body. The mask main body has a curved effective surface formed with a large number of electron-beam passage apertures and opposing the phosphor screen, a non-aperture portion surrounding the outer periphery of this effective surface, and a skirt portion formed in a bent on the outer periphery of the non-aperture portion. The mask main body has a long axis extending in a horizontal direction and crossing with a tube axis, and a short axis extending in a vertical direction and crossing with both the tube axis and the long axis. The effective surface and the non-aperture portion of the mask main body are formed in a curved surface having a radius of curvature in the short axis direction. At each long side of the mask main body, each end portion of the short axis of the effective surface and the non-aperture portion is recessed from any other adjacent part, in a direction leaving from the phosphor screen along the tube axis. The radius of curvature in a short axis direction near the short axis of the effective surface and the non-aperture portion of the mask main body is smaller than the radius of curvature in the short axis direction at other parts.

摘要： A shadow mask has a mask body and a substantially rectangular mask frame attached to a peripheral portion of the mask body. The mask body has a substantially rectangular curved effective surface opposed to a phosphor screen formed on an inner surface of a panel. The effective surface has a number of electron beam passage apertures. The effective surface of the mask body has a curvature in a direction of the long axis, which is set within a range of about 0 to 2×10−4 (1/mm) over an area from a center of the effective surface to a middle portion of the effective surface in the direction of the long axis. A curvature at a peripheral portion in the direction of the long axis is set to be greater than that at the middle portion. A curvature on the short axis in the direction of the short axis successively increases over a distance equal to at least two thirds of a distance between the center and an effective end of the short axis.
