    摘要: A structure is realized that can easily identify misassembly of a middle seal lip 18d in a structure that obtains a good seal. A middle seal lip 18d located between an outside seal lip 17d and an inside seal lip 19d inclines outwards in an axial direction towards its internal edge, being its tip. This tip makes a sliding contact all around the circumference of a cylindrical surface 21 located on an axial intermediate portion of the hub 2. The sum of a thickness T18 in a free state of the middle seal lip 18d, and a thickness ΔT of a portion of a seal member 16d, is greater than a width dimension “(R15−D2)/2” in a radial direction of a ring shaped gap 23 located between an internal edge of a metal core 15d and the cylindrical surface 21. In a misassembly state, the seal lip 18d is strongly clamped between the internal edge of the metal core 15d and the cylindrical surface 21, resulting in great friction between the middle seal lip 18d and the cylindrical surface 21, so that the misassembly state can be identified easily.

    摘要: The mutual difference of the diameters of the balls 17, 17 incorporated into a bearing unit for supporting a wheel is set to be not more than 1.5 μm (preferably to be not more than 1.0 μm). Finishing work is conducted on both sides of the disk 2 under the condition that the bearing unit for supporting a wheel is assembled and further this disk 2 is attached to the attaching flange 13 of the bearing unit for supporting a wheel. Due to the foregoing, the whirl of the hub 8 with respect to the outer ring 6 caused by the revolution of the balls 17, 17 can be suppressed, and at the same time an influence of the error of each portion can be eliminated. Therefore, the deflection of both sides 24, 24 of the disk 2 can be suppressed to be a sufficiently low value of not more than 35 μm (preferably not more than 25 μm).

Further, in the inner peripheral surface of the output-side disk, there are formed a fitting portion to be fitted outside with a member rotatable in conjunction with the output-side disk and an outer race raceway portion for the needle roller bearing, in the portion of the inner peripheral surface of the output-side disk that is situated near to the inside surface thereof, there is formed a residual compressive stress layer by shot peening, and the outer race raceway portion is ground so as to remove a portion of the residual compressive stress layer, to thereby form the outer race raceway portion as a smooth surface.
