    摘要: A printing apparatus or printing system that uses multiple print engines to form an image on a substrate. The printing apparatus or printing system may be a surface printing system or a reverse printing system. Each of the multiple print engines has at least one color station. The color stations are arranged in the print engines and between the multiple print engines based on whether the printing system is a surface printing system or a reverse printing system to control the order in which colorant is formed on a substrate. Multiple print engines allow for, among other things, a greater color gamut and therefore assists in expansion of the standard color gamut.

    摘要: A method and system to control ink keys for a printing machine is provided. The ink keys are adjustable to control ink feed to individual zones located across the width of an ink roller. Feedforward and feedback control loops adjust the ink supply dynamically based on a pixel count of the image content. The pixel count looks ahead in the video stream to allow time for the adjustment at the inker keys to propagate through the ink train to affect ink output onto the imaging drum. Feedback of the achieved ink density on control patches on the imaging drum is also used to command the inker key motors. Feedback is also used to update the inker propagation delay and dynamic model used to determine how much the inker keys need to be adjusted based on the pixel count stream.

    摘要: A method of refreshing a sticky cleaner used for cleaning a fuser member in an electrophotographic printer is disclosed. The method includes the steps of precoating the cleaner member with a low cost polymer toner material prior to a printing operation removing contaminants from the sticky surface of the cleaner member. A refreshed cleaning member prior to being used to clean a fuser in an electrophotographic printer in accordance with the features of the present invention includes a surface cleaning member having minimal contaminants thereon, and a coating of a plastic toner material that can become tacky at the operating cleaner temperatures.

    摘要: A printing apparatus employs rheological assist to transfer toner images from an intermediate transfer member to a transfuse member prior to final transfer and fusion of the toner image to a substrate. The transfuse member and intermediate member are maintained at a preestablished temperature differential, the intermediate transfer member being heated above ambient temperature. The preestablished temperature differential rheologically assists the transfer of the toner image to provide complete transfer of the toner image.
