    摘要: Bromoacetoxycalcidiol (B3CD), which is structurally related to calcidiol, exhibits cytotoxic and apoptotic activity toward cancer cells, including highly aggressive neuroblastoma cells. A series of small molecules designed around the structure of B3CD is expected to have growth inhibitory and apoptogenic activities toward a wide range of malignancies. B3CD shows no apparent toxicity in vivo, indicating potential value as a chemotherapeutic agent which will be particularly useful in treating highly aggressive tumors.

    摘要: A hybrid prefetch method and apparatus is disclosed. A processor includes a hybrid prefetch unit configured to generate addresses for accessing data from a system memory. The hybrid prefetch unit includes a first prediction unit configured to generate a first memory address according to a first prefetch algorithm and a second prediction unit configured to generate a second memory address according to a second prefetch algorithm. The hybrid prefetcher further includes an arbitration unit configured to select one of the first and second memory addresses and further configured to provide the selected one of the first and second memory addresses during a prefetch operation.

    摘要: A linerless label applicator for forming and applying a discrete, pressure sensitive adhesive linerless label to a document is adapted to receive and advance a plurality of documents, one at a time, along a document path through the applicator. The applicator includes a label storage and feed section, a label cutting section and a label application section. The storage and feed section stores the label material in roll form thereon and feeds the material through a feed assembly into the cutting section. The label cutting section includes a label drive assembly, a label guide assembly and a cutting assembly. The drive assembly includes a feed roller and a plasma coated idler roller which contacts the label adhesive and prevents adhesion thereto. The guide assembly includes a fan/vacuum manifold which retains the non-adhesive side of the label material in contact with the cutting assembly surfaces. The cutting assembly includes self-lubricating stationary and moveable blades adapted to coact with one another to cut the label material into predetermined, discrete labels. The moveable blade is mounted to the cutting section by a parallelogram drive linkage which facilitates reciprocating and transverse movement of the blade to effect the label cut. The application section includes a vacuum provided paddle to hold the label in place while being cut and to transfer the label to a passing document. The application section includes a compression mechanism for compressing the label to the document.

    摘要: A system and method for efficient data prefetching. A data stream stored in lower-level memory comprises a contiguous block of data used in a computer program. A prefetch unit in a processor detects a data stream by identifying a sequence of storage accesses referencing a contiguous blocks of data in a monotonically increasing or decreasing manner. After a predetermined training period for a given data stream, the prefetch unit prefetches a portion of the given data stream from memory without write permission, in response to an access that does not request write permission. Also, after the training period, the prefetch unit prefetches a portion of the given data stream from lower-level memory with write permission, in response to determining there has been a prior access to the given data stream that requests write permission subsequent to a number of cache misses reaching a predetermined threshold.
