    摘要: In a file server for suppressing power consumption of a storage apparatus, when a file sharing program receives a file access from a client, the program references a mapping table. The program addresses the access to the target file in the volume of a RAID group where the target file is stored. A coupling-request reception program memorizes a coupling time for each user into a coupling history table. A grouping program applies a grouping to users whose coupling time-zones are similar. A data transfer program transfers, into the same RAID group, data of the files associated with the grouped users, thereby collecting the data into the same RAID group. Thus, the time-zone when no access is made to the RAID group (i.e., non-coupling time-zone) can be made longer. Accordingly, a spin-up/down request program makes a spin-down request to the RAID group in the non-coupling time-zone.

    摘要: A power-saving control apparatus and method capable of power-saving and prevention of decrease in the speed of accessing files of a high level of importance is suggested.First file migration processing is executed for detecting a user access pattern for each file stored in a storage apparatus, grouping files of similar access patterns based on the detected access patterns, migrating each of the grouped files, by group, to memory media individually capable of power-saving control, and setting a power-saving control schedule for each group based on the access pattern for each file; and power-saving control of each memory medium is executed in accordance with the schedule set for each group; wherein the power-saving control schedule for each group is set based on the access pattern of the file whose level of importance is set to the highest level, from among the files belonging to that group.

    摘要: According to the prior art load distribution method, there was a drawback in that the time required from discovery of increase of load to the completion of countermeasures was long. In particular, upon receiving migration of data from other file devices, it was necessary to equalize not only the load accompanying normal processes but also the load accompanying the data migration processes. In a file system receiving migration of data from a plurality of file devices, a plurality of virtual NAS (VNAS) is provided within the file storage subsystem, and an associated VNAS for executing data migration from file devices and accesses from clients is respectively associated with each file storage subsystem. Then, the state of each VNAS is defined based on the state of progress of data migration in the file storage subsystem. According to the defined state, load distribution among VNAS is performed.
