摘要: A method for relieving network node congestion includes determining a moving average of an aggregated load on a network node that routes network traffic using historical data for a period of time for a portion of a communication network that includes the network node. Demand on the network node is projected based on the moving average. A current level of congestion on the network node is determined. A level of congestion on the network node is projected based on the projected demand and the current level of congestion. Available capacity of other network nodes in the portion of the communication network is estimated. A determination is made whether the projected level of congestion can be relieved using the estimated available capacity of the other network nodes. The communication network is reconfigured to relieve the projected level of congestion when the projected level of congestion can be relieved.

摘要: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for managing text-based services on mobile devices during the operation of a vehicle. Proactive service-controls use a time of day and location based services to determine that a mobile device is in a moving vehicle. Reactive position-awareness techniques use near-field communication (NFC) to determine that the mobile device is being operated by a user in a driver's seat of the vehicle. Upon satisfying both these determinations, specific text-based services such as messaging, browsing, etc. can be disabled by either the mobile device itself or by a network entity. The present invention can also be extended to managing other mobile device's usages in vehicles, including phone calls, online gaming, etc.

摘要: A method includes receiving a media request for a target device. The signaling information may be received from the target device and a media server. At least one attribute of the target device and the media server may be identified using the signaling information. At least one attribute of the target device and the media server may be evaluated against a service level objective to select a media format. The service level objective may include consideration of the target device and available bandwidth over a provider network. The media may be provided in the selected media format over the provider network to the target device.

The source signal may include a video signal and closed caption information embedded within the video signal. The closed caption information may be extracted from the source signal. A content request may be received over a network from an access device. A caption setting associated with the access device may be accessed. The video signal may be provided in a video stream over the network to the access device. The closed caption information may be provided over the network in a caption stream in accordance with accessing of the caption setting. Additional systems and methods are disclosed.

摘要: A system and method for imputing data into a database includes an imputing system operable to impute data based on outside plant construction principles. The imputing system includes an inventory database, a data engine, a search engine, and a loop engine. The inventory database includes a plurality of distribution records each associated with one or more cable pairs. The data engine determines if a desired distribution record corresponding to a desired cable pair includes missing data. The search engine searches a known class of serving terminals for complete distribution records and iteratively searches a sized binder group within the inventory database for one or more complete distribution records where the size of the binder group searched increases with each iterative search. The loop engine determines an imputed value for the desired distribution record based on the searching and imputes the value into the desired distribution record.

摘要: A method includes detecting, at a customer premises equipment (CPE) device, a problem associated with a network device. The network device is communicatively coupled to the CPE device via a local area network. For example, the CPE device may include a residential gateway (RG). The method includes determining, at the CPE device, whether the problem associated with the network device is locally correctable. When the CPE device determines that the problem is locally correctable, the method includes initiating a corrective action to resolve the problem. When the CPE device determines that the problem is not locally correctable, the method includes sending data associated with the problem from the CPE device to a network system via a wide area network.
