A counterweight is operably connected to the handle chassis and is pivotally rotatable about a first pivot axis between a non-actuated position and an actuated position. Stanchions extends from the handle chassis. A spring-biased primary inertia lever is operably connected with the stanchions and is pivotally rotatable about a second pivot axis. The spring-biased primary inertia lever is biased to a first position out of rotational alignment with the counterweight. An auxiliary inertia lever is pivotally rotatable about the second pivot axis and is adapted to move the primary inertia lever into a second position in rotational alignment with the counterweight, which prevents the counterweight from rotating downward into the actuated position, thereby actuating the exterior door handle thereby preventing the exterior handle from actuating and releasing the latch.

    摘要: A slidable contoured side door of an automotive vehicle equipped with a guidance structure that permits full travel of the door without adversely affecting door stability. The guidance structure may include a carriage movable along a relatively short track at the door lower edge and a stabilizer arm having limited sliding motion relative to the door. The relative sliding motion enables the contoured door to be out of registry with the door opening when the door is in the fully open position. This enables the door opening to be unobstructed so that passengers or cargo can more easily pass through the door opening.

A user can then grasp the handle, and pull the handle to a fully open position to thereby unlatch the door latch. After a user releases the handle, it shifts to a closed position due to spring force or a powered actuator. The door latch may also comprise a fully powered version wherein the handle shifts from a closed position to an open position, and a powered door latch releases the door latch if predefined conditions are detected.
