It does so utilizing a highly absorptive biocompatible sponge, such as polyvinyl alcohol or other material, which is connected to wall suction via a common hole running through the base of this sponge. The sponge configuration can vary (e.g. circular, linear, or other) and may be affixed to the drape via Velcro, magnetic, tape, staples or other method, so that abuts the drape surface; a raised portion may also serve as a “dam” to prevent fluid going to unwanted regions (e.g. onto the surgeon's feet, floor, or other undesired draped or undraped region).

A pump is provided for circulating the coolant, along with a flow switch for monitoring flow of the coolant through the closed fluid flow circuit, wherein if the flow has ceased through the closed fluid flow circuit, the flow switch instructs the system to deactivate the heating elements.

    摘要: A radiant heating system comprising a substantially hollow housing having detachable baffle plates internally positioned within the housing. The housing has an inlet and outlet for a flow of coolant to enter into and leave the housing, and a top plate sealing the upper surface of the housing has openings defined therein for insertion of heating elements to project into the housing and be in direct contact with the coolant to heat it. The inlet and the outlet are interconnected with piping to form a closed fluid flow circuit. Two or more baffle plates are used to increase turbulence of the coolant within the housing as it flows through, and temporarily keep coolant in the housing longer to heat it.

A heating wire is affixed at one end to a rubber cover on the wiper blade and at another end to an electrical power source, wherein the electrical power source enables the heating wire to heat the wiper blade. A remote control device can be utilized for selectively activating and deactivating the heating wire in heating the wiper blade. The remote control device, or the wiper assembly or vehicle console itself, can contain utilize a timer device for selectively activating and deactivating the heating wire in heating the wiper blade. Further, the heating wire is positioned externally to an interior or cab of the vehicle, whereby no wiring is required within the interior or cab of the vehicle.

    摘要: An electronic ballast for a gas discharge lamp includes an adjustable constant current source circuit adapted to convert a direct current input to provide an initial start current and a variably controlled constant current. A coupling transformer circuit is connected to the adjustable constant current source and adapted to couple the initial start current to the gas discharge lamp to provide a corresponding start voltage approximately equal to a strike voltage of the gas discharge lamp and to convert the variably controlled constant current to a square wave current to power the gas discharge lamp thereafter. A current sense circuit is adapted to sense an operating current at the coupling transformer and to provide corresponding current sense information to the adjustable constant current source, wherein said current sense information is used to vary the variably controlled constant current.

    摘要: A gas discharge lamp is driven with a constant current square wave from a current transformer where the number of volt-microseconds are designed such that at the start of each square wave, the voltage rises to the required ionization potential for the lamp, while the plasma has not yet started to conduct. As soon as the lamp ionizes the gas within the lamp and current flows, the voltage drops and current flows at the desired level. The current level is set to prevent the input of excessive power pulses into the lamp, to reduce the creation of infrared photons. In addition, the plasma is driven at this current level almost continuously (with reversing polarity), which does not allow the plasma time to cool down. Consequently, the lamp becomes a more efficient light emitter, thereby requiring less energy to achieve the same light output.

    摘要: The present invention provides a flexible hose easily converted to a rigid hose. The flexible-rigid bimodal hose comprises a plurality of adjacently engaged hollow members defining a tube having a first end, a second end, and an elongated hollow. A flexible tube as well as a cable pass through the hollow and extend therethrough. The cable acts as a means to apply tension on the hollow members. The hose has a flexible state in which each one of the hollow members is rotating in respect to neighboring hollow member and a rigid state in which the hollow members are forced together by the cable so that there is no relative movement between neighboring hollow members. An actuation means, which can be mechanically or hydraulically operated, is adapted to apply different tensile forces on the cable.

    摘要: A heat emitting radiator for heating a space is provided that includes a radiator panel with tubing forming a fluid circuit or loop, wherein the loop includes at least one opening for inserting a heating element that can heat a fluid in the fluid circuit. The radiator may also include a heat absorbing material, such as stone, in thermal contact with the radiator panel. The radiator can be selectively de-activated when a certain temperature has been achieved in the space or in the fluid, allowing heat absorbed by a heat absorbing material positioned within the radiator to then be radiated into the space. The radiator can then be re-activated when a selected low temperature has been reached. The heating element may be a DC electrical heating element configured to be connected to an AC power source.
