摘要: In a three tier client-server architecture, an universal application (UAP) server providing a middle or second tier between a third tier of application servers and a first tier of client devices to provide the controlled delivery of computer based application programs running on a set of application servers to a number of users using a wide variety of client devices without requiring the installation of software on, or changes to the application servers or application programs. The UAP server or application broker comprises a status manager engine, a session manager engine, a data store, a data store engine, a web server, and multiple instantiations of protocol engines design for a given application type and multiple instantiations of display engines for downloading to and operating on client devices. The UAP server provides: (1) means to support standard graphics based computer applications connected to clients of varying capability via a network of varying bandwidth and latency by automatically varying the type and number of graphic requests and their networking encoding to provide near optimum performance while maintaining the correct visual representation, (2) automatic construction of user worktops based on user data contained in a datastore, (3) loading balancing of application servers upon application launch and (4) resumable connections to client devices.

摘要: Methods of isolating weakly interacting molecules in a fluidic sample using an immiscible phase filtration technique are disclosed. A complex is formed between a solid phase substrate, a molecule immobilized on the solid phase substrate, and at least one target molecule present in the fluidic sample. The complex is transferred into an immiscible phase by applying an external force to the solid phase substrate. The methods eliminate the need for complex and time consuming washing steps.

摘要: Disclosed is a method of isolating, purifying, or concentrating a target compound. The method includes the steps of onjugating the target compound to an epitope for a polyol-responsive monoclonal antibody (PR-mAb) to yield a conjugate; and then contacting the conjugate to an immunoaffinity matrix comprising a PR-mAb specifically reactive with the PR-mAb epitope. Preferred epitopes for use in the method include amino acids of from 4 to about 30 amino acids, wherein the amino acid sequence comprises the sub-sequence D-X-S-R, (where X is any natural or unnatural amino acid), such as TKDPSRVG and TQDPSRVG. Additional epitopes for use in the method include SLAELLNGLGGS and PTSPSYSPTSPSYS. The method enables the rapid isolation of desired target compounds under gentle purification conditions.

摘要: A device and method are provided for facilitating extraction of a fraction from a biological sample. The biological sample includes non-desired material and a fraction-bound solid phase substrate. The device includes an input zone for receiving the biological sample therein and a phase-gate zone for receiving an isolation buffer therein. An output zone receives a reagent therein. A force is movable between a first position adjacent the input zone and a second position adjacent the output zone. The force urges the fraction-bound solid phase substrate from the input zone, through the phase-gate zone and into the output zone.

摘要: A method and apparatus for providing a gas to or from a pressurized cylinder is described. The apparatus includes a gas delivery device housing that houses and protects a gas control device configured to deliver gas to a user or device, and may also be adapted to provide gas to the pressurized cylinder in a refilling process. The housing includes a surface free from unnecessary depressions and/or protrusions to facilitate cleanability and enhance safety during use. Adjustment indicators and status indication elements disposed in or on portions of the housing are configured to enhance readability and recognition, which facilitates safe and efficient operation of the device. Adjustable elements to control a flow metric from the gas control device are adapted to facilitate adjustment by a user with a large hand and/or a user suffering from some diminished physical capability.
