Abstract:
This invention relates to the discovery that bis-(2,5-polythio-1,3,4-thiadiazole) in combination with a bismaleimide compound and a sulfenamide compound provides for excellent vulcanization of rubbers and results in an improved final rubber vulcanizate possessing superior physical properties and reversion resistance.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a process for the reductive alkylation of aromatic nitro-containing compounds with ketones or aldehydes wherein the improvement is characterized in that a specific polymer bound co-catalyst system is utilized. More specifically, a polymer bound anthranilic acid palladium complex is used in conjunction with a bound sulfonic acid resin as a catalyst system in a reaction to produce compounds such as N-phenyl-N'-alkyl-p-phenylenediamine.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for increasing the rate of vulcanization of a sulfur rubber composition comprising heating a sulfur vulcanizable rubber composition to a temperature ranging from 100.degree. C. to 200.degree. C., said rubber composition, containing a sulfur vulcanizable rubber, a sulfenamide compound and a hydrated thiosulfate. Addition of the hydrated thiosulfate to a sulfur vulcanizable rubber and a sulfenamide compound significantly increases the rate of vulcanization of the rubber.
Abstract:
This invention relates to the discovery that a morpholine polysulfide, such as morpholine tetrasulfide, in combination with a substituted triazine having at least one dialkyl dithiocarbamyl radical provides for excellent vulcanization of rubbers and results in an improved final rubber vulcanizate possessing superior physical properties and reversion resistance.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for processing a rubber composition comprising thermomechanically mixing at a rubber temperature in a range of 140.degree. C. to 190.degree. C. for a mixing time of 1 to 20 minutes(i) 100 parts by weight of at least one sulfur vulcanizable elastomer selected from conjugated diene homopolymers and copolymers, natural rubber and copolymers of at least one conjugated diene and aromatic vinyl compound;(ii) 10 to 250 phr of particulate precipitated silica;(iii) 0.01 to 1.0 parts by weight per weight of said silica of an organosilicon compound; and(iv) 0.05 to 10 phr of sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate.Addition of the sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate to sulfur vulcanizable rubber, silica and sulfur containing organosilicon compound decreases the mixing/processing time without sacrificing end product properties.
Abstract:
This invention relates to the discovery that tetrabenzylthiuram disulfide in combination with a bismaleimide compound and a sulfenamide compound provides for excellent vulcanization of rubbers and results in an improved final rubber vulcanizate possessing superior physical properties and reversion resistance.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for increasing the rate of vulcanization of a rubber composition comprising adding to a sulfur vulcanizable rubber a methyl trialkyl ammonium salt of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 are independently alkyl radicals having 8 to 10 carbon atoms and M is selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br, CH.sub.3 SO.sub.4 and HSO.sub.4. Addition of a methyl trialkyl ammonium salt of the above formula significantly increases the rate of vulcanization of the rubber.
Abstract:
There are disclosed polymers which have nonionic surfactant moieties pendant to the polymeric backbone which exhibit activated sulfur vulcanization, a process for their preparation, and mixtures of polymeric cure activators and elastomers.
Abstract:
A process for reducing the level of cyclopentadiene present in a hydrocarbon stream containing isoprene and cyclopentadiene which involves contacting the stream with a base wherein said base is selected from the group consisting of potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide and potassium fluoride. The base is situated on activated carbon carrier.
