    摘要: A container of stabilized media with a growing plant therein comprising a fluid-tight container open at the upper end, a body of soil mix in the container with a growing plant having the roots thereof in the body of soil mix and having the stalk thereof extending outwardly from the upper surface, and a quantity of synthetic organic plastic resin distributed throughout the body of soil mix and around the roots in an acetone solution, the resin being reacted in situ to form an open-celled hydrophilic polymer binding the body of soil mix into a cohesive mass and to the adjacent inner surfaces of the container and binding the roots in the cohesive mass, the roots being disposed substantially uniformly throughout the adjacent portions of the cohesive mass and the stalk being intimately surrounded by the cohesive mass and extending through the upper surface thereof; there also is disclosed a container wherein the growing plant is disposed in a soil plug that is stabilized by an open-celled hydrophilic polymer; there is also disclosed method of forming such containers of stabilized media with growing plant therein.

    摘要: Composition for the regulation and promotion of the growth rate and characteristics of a variety of plants by providing a method for increasing the concentration of N-.sup.6 -Benzyladenine in a concentrated solution of a solubilizing agent including a selected alcohol(s) or hydroxy compound(s), such as a glycol and a selected hydroxide. Included is a method of preparing a plant growth promoter concentrate from stable water dilutable liquid concentrates of N.sup.6 Benzyladenine, ("N.sup.6 BA"). A process of increasing iron absorption by plants utilizes a method of uniformly coating dry powdered humic acid and seaweed with a N.sup.6 BA concentrate solution by preparing a solution of N.sup.6 BA concentrate solution comprising an alcohol and an alkaline metal hydroxide, applying the N.sup.6 BA concentrate solution to a mixture of dry powdered humic acid and seaweed, evaporating the residual alcohol through low temperature drying forming a caked material, pulverizing the caked material to a powdered form, and suspending the finely powdered concentrate in an aqueous spray solution.

    摘要: A continuous molding machine (10) for forming two chains (55) of soil plugs (50) for use in germinating seeds or otherwise growing plants. A continuous sheet of paper (22) is corrugated to conform to a series of mold elements (14) and a reaction mixture (32) of polymerizing agent and soil slurry is added over the paper to conform to the mold element shape. Another sheet of paper (38) is added over the top of the mixture (32) and the entire assembly is then passed under a series of pressure belts (42, 44, 46) during which time the mixture (32) is cured. The chain of soil plugs (50) which emerges from the pressure belts (42, 44, 46) is encased on both sides by paper (22, 38) and may be cut to provide a pair of separate soil plug chains (55).
