Abstract:
A clock and data recovery circuit injects a noise waveform into the control loop to offset the data sampling point artificially in order to induce errors. The amplitude of the injected waveform can be varied to ascertain the effect on the bit error rate (BER) so as to be able to evaluate the temporal noise margin.
Abstract:
Drug delivery devices are described that include sensors and processing circuitry that can detect operating events, such as flow rates and drug delivery, in various types of inhalers, such as dry powder inhalers, metered dose inhalers, nasal inhalers and nebulisers. The information determined by the processing circuitry can be used to provide feedback to the user or can be stored or transmitted for subsequent analysis. This information can be used to improve clinical trials by providing information about the way in which the inhalers under test are being used.
Abstract:
A surgical stapling apparatus is provided including a cartridge assembly defining a tissue contacting surface; an anvil assembly defining a tissue contacting surface; and a surgical buttress releasably secured to at least one of the tissue contacting surface of the cartridge assembly and the tissue contacting surface of the anvil assembly by at least one anchor. A loading unit is provided including a surgical buttress releasably secured to an anvil assembly and/or a staple cartridge secured thereto by at least one anchor, and a drive assembly including a knife blade, wherein movement of the drive assembly from a proximal position to a distal position results in the knife blade cutting the at least one anchor and freeing each surgical buttress from the anvil assembly and/or cartridge assembly.
Abstract:
A surgical buttress for use with a surgical stapling apparatus having a first jaw in the form of an anvil assembly and a second jaw configured to selectively receive a staple cartridge assembly. The surgical buttress includes a first body portion and a second body portion. The first body portion substantially overlies a portion of a plurality of fastener slots of the staple cartridge assembly. The staple cartridge assembly is removably operably couplable to the second jaw of the surgical stapling apparatus. The second body portion extends from the first body portion and is configured and dimensioned to be removably positioned to substantially overlie a portion of a plurality of fastener pockets of the anvil assembly of the surgical stapling apparatus when the staple cartridge assembly is operably coupled to the second jaw of the surgical stapling apparatus.

Abstract:
A circuit for receiving multiple serial datastreams in parallel is disclosed. A bit clock is recovered from each data stream, there being one data bit for each transition of the clock signal both positive and negative going. The phases of the bit clocks are compared and are adjusted by 180 degrees so that the positive going edges of all occur close to each other. The bits of each stream are assembled into words under the control of a word clock. In one embodiment a common word clock is derived form the set of bit clocks as a whole. In another embodiment each stream is provided with its own word clock which is aligned to positive edges of the respective bit clocks that are close to each other.
Abstract:
A crystalline composition comprising a crystal of the IL-6 receptor I chain is provided. Also provided are methods of using the crystal and related structural information to screen for and design compounds that interact with IL-6R, or variants thereof. Also provided arc methods of modulating an IL-6 receptor comprising contacting the IL-6 receptor with a compound identified by the screening method of the invention.
Abstract:
A dispatch hub includes a hub processor and a communications device for communicating with a plurality of field assemblies, which typically are installed in mobile service vehicles. Each field assembly includes a wireless communication device for communicating with the dispatch hub, a geographic positioning device, an RFID reader for reading RFID tags associated with components in the inventory of a service vehicle, and a controller for controlling the collection of field data at the field assembly and forwarding of field data to the dispatch hub. Field data include at least information about the geographic location of the field assembly and component identification data. At the dispatch hub, the need for a specific component at a customer site and the geographic location of the customer site are compared with the forwarded field data to select a service vehicle to travel to the customer site with a needed component.
Abstract:
The present invention entails a rotary cutting die having one or more scrap strippers secured thereon for stripping scrap corrugated board pieces from adjacently disposed scrap cutting blades during a corrugated board die cutting operation. Each scrap stripper comprises a resilient member having a base and an angled flexible finger extending from the base so as to define an open area between the angled finger and the base. During a die cutting operation, the entire scrap stripper including the angled finger and base is compressed as the stripper passes through the nip defined between the cutting die and an associated anvil. As the stripper exits the nip, it expands causing the underlying scrap piece to be stripped from adjacently disposed blades. In addition, the angled finger extending from the base extends outwardly and engages the underlying cut piece of scrap and pushes or urges the cut scrap against the underlying anvil. The anvil, in turn, then directs the cut scrap piece downwardly and that action effectively separates the cut scrap piece from the finished corrugated board product exiting the nip.
