The mounting plate also has a slot to accommodate a fastener for anchoring the mounting plate to the unmodified OEM carriage or to the unmodified OEM sideshifter.

The thermal circuit breaker and switch has fixed and movable contacts, and non-conductive contact and trip actuators. The movable contact is provided on the free end of a lever arm that normally biases the movable contact toward its open position. The contact actuator transfers movement from a rocker or operator to the movable contact arm when no overload condition exists. The trip actuator is L shaped and rotates in a socket when engaged by a thermally sensitive bi-metallic element so as to allow one end of the contact actuator to float freely, allowing the movable contact arm's bias to open the circuit. The bi-metallic element is so positioned as to engage and rotate the trip actuator only when the bi-metallic element is deformed due to an overheat condition that occurs with an overcurrent. A compression spring acts between the upstanding legs of the trip actuator and the underside of the rocker thus biasing the rocker to the `off` position and biasing the trip actuator to the `reset` position. The rocker employs hooks or posts to engage and position the contact actuator to the reset position after being tripped or manually switched off.

The pin has an enlarged head at its inner end to engage the lever at one or two spaced locations to so support the lever in its center position. A momentary "on" versions has steeply inclined regions of the contact lever on at least one side of the center pivot area thereof, and two progressive "on" versions are disclosed, one with upturned marginal edge portions on the contact lever that cooperate with the pins unique head configuration to permit holding the contact lever "on" in the neutral or "center-off" position for the actuator. The second progressive "on" switch has two "center-off" type contact levers and uniquely shaped pins designed to hold these contact levers in oppositely oriented limit positions when the actuator is centered.

Aligned openings in the side walls of the recessed cover pivotally receive a manually movable rocker. The rocker may optionally have one or more transparent panels to provide light from one or more small lamps mounted in small openings in the recess of the cover to provide an indication of circuit condition. The movable part also has projecting ears extending laterally into the side walls of the fixed part to restrict the sliding part to movement as dictated by the relative locations for the fixed and movable bridging contact. A spring return single pole double throw switch is disclosed but in place of the return spring another pole might be provided.

An electric rocker switch has a thermally responsive movable contact element that is mechanically closed against the fixed contact, but moves by bimetallic thermal action to open when an overcurrent condition exists. A trip flag also moves between the open contacts whenever the switch rocker is moved to OFF, and will remain in this position even if the rocker is held ON, if the bimetallic element has caused the flag to move between the contacts. Trip-free operation is thereby achieved. A spring acts on the trip flag to provide a positive snap action as the flag moves between the contacts. The same spring holds the rocker ON, and serves to hold the flag lightly against the movable contact in the switch ON condition.
