The present invention provides an audio processing apparatus for automatically controlling gain. The audio processing apparatus includes an audio signal source and a sound reproduction device. The sound reproduction device attaches to the audio signal source, which includes a storage unit for storing a default gain value and a gain index table. The gain index table lists genre types with a genre gain value of each of the genre types. After receiving a play command signal, the audio signal source fetches an audio file to be played, reads a genre type of the audio file from a tag thereof, and processing the audio file to generate audio signals. The audio signal source further reads a genre gain value of the genre type from the gain index table, amplifies the audio signals by the genre gain value, and sends the amplified audio signals to the sound reproduction device to reproduce corresponding sounds.

The present invention relates to a hearing protection method of a sound output device, includes steps of: obtaining analog audio signals from an audio signal source via a plug of the sound output device; converting the analog audio signals to generate digital audio signals; sampling the digital audio signals to obtain a plurality of amplitude values of the sampled digital audio signals; calculating an audio energy in every predetermined time period according to the amplitude values sampled in the predetermined time period; determining whether the audio energy reaches a predetermined value; generating a hearing protect signal if the audio energy reaches the predetermined value; and in response to the hearing protect signal, automatically reducing a current gain value or outputting prompt information, thus, preventing hearing impairment of users. The present invention also provides a corresponding sound output device for hearing protection.

A measure system for signal measurement is introduced. The measure system simplifies the effort for a signal measurement in many applications. The application for a signal measurement is, for example, computation of a signal average value. The measure system includes a digital computation circuit together with an analog to digital converter (ADC) to constitute a compact signal measurement component. With the proposed design, a general microcontroller can proceed with a signal level sense and control with very few CPU power. In addition, the proposed system can be integrated with other analog or digital signal processing circuitry to form a single silicon chip.

For general users, it may cause annoying experience since the TV sound level may change a lot when user switches the channel from one to the other. In addition, switching among TV reception and AV inputs may have similar problem.
