摘要:
Provided are methods and systems for determining functional relationships between a cosmetic agent and a skin tissue condition of interest. Also provided are methods and systems for identifying cosmetic agents that affect a skin aging tissue condition, as well as the use of agents identified by such methods and systems for the preparation of cosmetic compositions, personal care products, or both.
摘要:
Methods for identifying materials that can help regulate the condition of mammalian keratinous tissue (e.g., skin, hair, and/or nails), and the use of such materials selected by such methods (e.g., preparation of cosmetic compositions). The methods can also be used to generate data that can be used to support marketing claims and advertising claims, and to provide irritation and/or safety information. The methods can be used as an element of a method of doing business.
摘要:
Gene panels, microarrays and biomarker panels relating to genes and gene products associated with age-related oxidative damage to skin, and transcriptional profiling-based methods for identification and evaluation of cosmetic agents for prevention, reversal, or reduction of oxidative damage to skin. Cosmetic agents and compositions comprising the cosmetic agents, capable of inducing nrf2-mediated activation of the antioxidant response element to increase expression of Phase 2 enzymes, methods for restoring optimal redox status to skin employing the agents, and methods for identifying and evaluating cosmetic agents acting via the nrf2-mediated mechanism.

A skin-care composition may comprise a dill extract, a safe and effective amount of a peptide, a safe and effective amount of a hydrating skin active, and a dermatologically acceptable carrier. The skin-care composition may further comprise a safe and effective amount of an acute skin-care active. Further, a method of producing a chronic skin-firming benefit and, optionally, an acute skin-tightening sensation, said method comprising the step of topically applying to the skin of a mammal in need of such treatment, a safe and effective amount of the skin-care composition.

Personal care compositions comprising a dipeptide and methods of using such compositions to treat the condition of keratinous tissue. The C terminal amino acid of said dipeptide is threonine. The personal care composition can be applied topically, ingested orally, injected, or used as part of a combined treatment regimen.

A technique for in vitro testing of ocular and dermal irritants is disclosed. The process involves the topical application of liquid, solid granular or gel-like materials (e.g. cosmetics) to a cell culture and then evaluating the cytotoxicity of the material. Cell cultures of human skin without a stratum corneum and having a histologic similarity to the eye are used. Irritation is evaluated by measuring cell viability using MTT assay (based on the reduction of a tetrazolium dye by functional mitochondria), or release of LDH or PGE.sub.2. A unique method of applying test materials which are not water soluble is described.

Personal care compositions comprising a dipeptide; one or more of the following: a pentapeptide, a second dipeptide, a vitamin B3 compound, a hexamindine compound, and/or a sugar amine; and a dermatologically acceptable carrier. Methods of using such compositions to treat the condition of keratinous tissue. In certain embodiments, the C terminal amino acid of said dipeptide is threonine.
