摘要: Unauthorized wireless access points are detected by configuring authorized access points and mobile units to listen to all wireless traffic in its cell and report all detected wireless devices to a monitor. The monitor checks the reported devices against a list of authorized network devices. If the reported wireless device is not an authorized device, the monitor determines if the reported device is connected to the network. If the reported device is connected to the network and is not an authorized device, the monitor alerts the network operator or network manager of a rogue device connected to the network and attempts to locate and isolate the rogue device.

摘要: A system for enforcing configuration requirements for hardware and software on mobile units operating on Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). The system allows the configuration policy to change dynamically with the access point or sub-network association. Whenever a mobile unit connects to a new sub-network or access point, the system invokes and then verifies the proper configuration profile for that sub-network or access point. Thus the system ensures the configuration of the mobile unit meets the requirements for the sub-network being used.

摘要: Anti-microbial coatings and method of forming same on medical devices are provided. The coatings are preferably formed by depositing an anti-microbial, biocompatible metal by vapour deposition techniques to produce atomic disorder in the coating such that a sustained release of metal ions sufficient to produce an anti-microbial effect is achieved. Preferred deposition conditions to achieve atomic disorder include a lower than normal substrate temperature, and one or more of a higher than normal working gas pressure and a lower than normal angle of incidence of coating flux. Anti-microbial powders formed by vapour deposition or altered by mechanical working to produce atomic disorder are also provided. Novel anti-microbial silver materials are defined, characterized by having a positive rest potential, a T.sub.rec /T.sub.m less than 0.33, and a grain size less than 200 nm. Anti-microbial fine grain or nanocrystalline materials are provided, together with methods of preparation, wherein the anti-microbial metal if deposited in a matrix with atoms or molecules of a different material such as other biocompatible metals (ex. Ta), trapped or absorbed oxygen, or compounds of anti-microbial metals or biocompatible metals (ex. Ag0 or TaO).

摘要: A microwave susceptor bed useful for sintering ceramics, ceramic composites and metal powders is disclosed. The susceptor bed contains granules of a major amount of a microwave susceptor material, and a minor amount of a refractory parting agent, either dispersed in the susceptor material, or as a coating on the susceptor material. Alumina is the preferred susceptor material. Carbon is the most preferred parting agent. A sintering process using the bed and novel silicon nitride products produced thereby are described.

摘要: Wheel type electronic sheet material area measuring machine has means arranged to emit a test start signal, which may be manually operated or automatically operated at a particular stage in the machine cycle, and test means actuated by the signal which cause all of the detecting means of the machine to emit a signal normally indicating presence of sheet material for a predetermined period of such a length that, in the normal operation of the machine, the signalling means of each wheel should generate at least one pulse. Should a pulse not be received from one of the wheels in the allowed time, a signal is given indicating that the machine is faulty. The invention includes means to indicate which of the arm and wheel assemblies is faulty.

摘要: Electronic wheel-type area measuring machine has manual or automatic operating means, arranged to emit, at a predetermined point in the machine cycle, a test start signal, the operating means includes test means, which upon receipt of the test start signal, feeds signals to computing means of the machine until the computing means registers a predetermined number whereupon a stop signal is emitted. The test means has duplicate computing means which also receives the test signals until the stop signal is emitted, whereupon the number of signals received by the duplicate computing means is compared with the predetermined number and an alarm signal is given if the number recorded by the duplicate computer means differs by more than a predetermined tolerance from the predetermined number. The counter check system also preferably provides a visual test on a visual test display unit and an output printer.
