    摘要: A digital watch has a face mounted local pulse sensor unit which is coupled to infrared plethysmograph electronics within the watch. The local pulse sensor includes transmitter and receiver photodiodes connected to the electronics by a plurality of moveable contact fingers. A connector at one end of a flat cable is insertable into a slotted opening on the side of the local pulse sensor and between the contact fingers and the two local photodiodes to disconnect the photodiodes from the electronics. Simultaneously, a remote pulse sensor unit at the other end of the cable is electrically coupled to the contact fingers by the connector for enabling the wearer's pulse at his finger to be sensed. A loop about the connector end of the cable maintains the connector in position when inserted into the local pulse sensor receptacle. A cuff at the remote sensor end of the cable secures the sensor to a wearer's finger for pulse monitoring.

    摘要: A digital watch having a face mounted detachable pulse sensor unit coupled to infrared plethysmograph electronics within the watch. The pulse sensor unit is detachable from a receptacle on the watch face and mountable into a receptacle at a first end of a remote pulse sensing cable. The second end of the cable is connected into the watch receptacle for conveying the pulse sensing information to the infrared electronics. A cuff holds the pulse sensor unit in place against the wearer's finger for sampling his heartbeat. The wearer may thus monitor his pulse rate while both hands are free.

It carries two alignment notches with top and bottom spacers embracing the substrate and engaging the alignment notches. The visual horological display is located in the top spacer and the batteries are located in the bottom spacer. Springs press onto the substrate and are contactable for input to the watch electronics. All important parts are keyed together for ease of assembly and accuracy of alignment.

    摘要: An electronic device, e.g., a quartz crystal in an enclosure having three stubby leads for use in an electronic watch, is mounted adjacent to a substrate having three feedthrough holes near its perimeter. Connection between the substrate and the three stubby leads are made simultaneously by three individual connection devices all attached to a tab through individual breakaway neck portions. Each connection device comprises a tail which is forked for insertion by interference fit into the feedthrough holes in the substrate. At the opposite end from the tail is a keyhole opening, in which the larger hole fits over one of the stubby leads and in which a smaller hole can be slid onto the lead by a force fit. Thus, in operation, the bifurcated tails of each device are placed through the feedthrough holes and the keyhole openings of each device are placed over their respective stubby leads. By pulling on the tab common to the three connector devices, the smaller hole of each keyhole opening is force fitted onto the stubby lead, after which the tab is broken away from the respective connector devices at the necked-down portions. A tooling hole in each connector device adjacent the keyhole opening permits removal of individual connector devices, such as by a hooked tool.
