    摘要: An active fuel pressure pulsation cancellation technique includes receiving, at a controller of an engine having a camshaft-driven fuel pump, an unfiltered fuel pressure signal indicative of a measured pressure of fuel in a fuel rail. The technique includes detecting, at the controller, fuel pressure pulsations in the fuel rail based on the unfiltered fuel pressure signal. The technique includes generating, at the controller, a cancellation signal based on an opposite polarity of the fuel pressure pulsations. The technique also includes controlling, by the controller, an actuator associated with the fuel rail using the cancellation signal to cause the actuator to generate liquid-borne cancellation pulsations that cancel the fuel pressure pulsations in the fuel rail.

    摘要: A fuel injection system for an engine having exhaust valve train drive means includes a compression spring connected to the exhaust valve train drive member for compression and expansion movement with the drive member. A diaphragm fuel pump includes a pumping chamber having a pump diaphragm driven by a compression spring. The pumping chamber includes a fuel inlet passage having a check valve therein. An injector chamber, in fuel flow communication with the pumping chamber, receives fuel from the pumping chamber during compression and expansion cycling of the compression spring. The injector chamber includes an accumulator and connects with a fuel injector. A check valve is disposed between the chambers prevents fuel flow back into the pumping chamber. A pressure sensor is mounted for sensing fuel pressure in the injector chamber and operates to communicate the fuel pressure value in the injector chamber. An engine controller receives the fuel pressure value of the fuel pressure in the injector chamber and controls fuel metering based upon the reduction in fuel pressure in the injector chamber during engine fuel injection. A timing member is in communication with the engine controller for initiating fuel injection.

    摘要: A method of making a solenoid coil assembly comprises the steps of providing a bobbin made of an insulated magnetic material. A pair of electrical terminals is mounted on the bobbin for connection with a separable electrical connector. A two-piece stator assembly is comprised of an inner pole disposed on the interior of the bobbin and an outer pole disposed on the exterior of the bobbin. The bobbin is then molded over the inner pole core. The insulated magnetic material of the bobbin comprises a plurality of magnetic granules, each of the plurality of magnetic granules being coated with a layer of insulating material, thereby preventing an electrical path from granule to granule.

    摘要: Self-contained hydraulic variable valve timing systems for use with internal combustion engines include an especially adapted valve cover which integrally includes a hydraulic lifter, a solenoid valve, and fluid passageways fluid connecting the lifter and solenoid valve. In one embodiment, separated cam follower and valve actuating pistons form respective fluid-connected chambers in a case integral with the valve cover, these chambers also being in fluid communication with the solenoid valve via a control passageway. Cam-following motion of the cam follower piston may be hydraulically transferred to the valve actuating piston when the selenoid valve is operated so as to open one valve of the engine, or to simultaneously open a number of valves. An overhead cam may be mounted within the valve cover with the hydraulic lifters disposed between the cam and the valves of the engine. The valve cover will therefore define the fluid passageways so as to operatively interconnect the solenoid valve in the cover to the hydraulic valve lifters.

    摘要: An especially adapted engine valve includes structure which damps motion of the valve during its final closure to seat. A spool portion of the valve establishes, with its associated guideway, a damping chamber into which oil under pressure may be admitted via a feed passageway. Oil is discharged through a flow-restricted bleed passageway during closure of the valve so as to create beneficial pressure buildup within the damping chamber and thus reduce the valve's closing velocity. Since the damping functions occur passively (i.e. dependent only upon the relative location of the valve within its guideway), gentle closing of the valve can occur at any point on the cam lobe thereby making it especially well suited for use in "lost motion" valve control systems. The valve is preferably sealed against oil leakage by a pair of axially spaced-apart seal members, and a drain port having an end located between the seal members at all times during the valve's displacements between its opened and seated positions.

    摘要: An air flow sensor (10) as may be used to measure input air to an internal combustion engine has an aerodynamically designed impact tube (16) for diverting bypass air to a pair of sensors (28, 30). Downstream from the impact tube (16) is a venturi section providing exhaust means for the bypass air. The exhaust path configuration for the bypass air shields the sensors (28, 30) from a reverse pressure wave which can result from an engine backfire. The impact tube (16) operates to integrate the air velocity over a full radius of the air flow body (14).
