Abstract:
A mechanism for provably disabling an electronic assembly such as a circuit board. The mechanism comprises a tab or key, normally attached to the assembly during operation, but which, when detached, prevents the assembly from being fully functional. The key may comprise a portion of the assembly. The key comprises a wire trace or other signal conductor that is severed when the key is detached from the assembly. The assembly may fail to power up if the conductor is broken, or a processing element on the assembly may detect the broken conductor and disable some or all functionality of the assembly. The key may also include an identification that can be used as evidence of the key removal.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for configuring proximally configurable devices deployed to a location using a proximal device configuration tool. The proximal device configuration tool generates a directed beam that is sent to a targeted proximally configurable device where the proximally configurable device enters a configuration mode and received configuration information associated with a context using the directed beam.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for determining a position of a mobile device including a magnetic signal source deployed at a predetermined location. The magnetic signal source is adapted to transmit a low frequency modulated magnetic signal. The position and orientation of the mobile device relative to the predetermined location of the magnetic signal source is determined based on the signal bearing and the signal strength.
Abstract:
A system configured to detect faults in signal lines. A system includes a first component configured to communicate with a second component via a signal path including one or more signal traces. Sense signal lines are manufactured such that at some point they are in close proximity to a signal trace which is to be monitored. The sense signal lines are configured to use parasitic coupling to redirect a portion of a signal conveyed via a signal trace to a monitoring component. The first component is configured to convey a test signal indicative of a type of test via the signal path, and a reference signal to the monitoring component. The monitoring component is configured to utilize the reference signal to ascertain a presence or absence, or characteristics of a received redirected signal. The monitoring component may optionally utilize a locally generated reference signal.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for configuring proximally configurable devices deployed in a region that includes scanning the region that includes multiple deployed proximally configurable devices with a directed radiation beam and transmitting data, utilizing the directed radiation beam, to one or more of the deployed proximally configurable devices where the data is associated with the location of the directed radiation beam during scanning within the region.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for use of an optical display system as an indicator of a wearable computing device are provided. In one example, a method includes receiving, by the wearable computing device, information for display by an optical display system coupled to the wearable computing device. The method includes in response, making a determination of whether the wearable computing device is in use. The method also includes based on the determination, causing a light source coupled to the wearable computing device to modulate an illumination of the optical display system.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for information exchange with a targeted beaconing device in a positioning system that includes locating a mobile communication device within a proximity of a plurality of beaconing devices and an enabling of a transmission of information from a beaconing device. A mobile communication device receives the transmitted information from the beaconing device and optionally displays the transmitted information, where the transmitted information from the beaconing device is associated with a context based on the targeted beaconing device.
