    摘要: RFID tags are configured to adjust their clock frequency in order to meet predefined limits for reply frequencies to conserve tag power. A deviation of computed tag reply frequency from a reader commanded reply frequency is used to determine an adjustment to the tag clock frequency. The tag clock frequency may be adjusted during backscatter and restored once backscattering is completed.

    摘要: A thin film heater includes at least two open regions formed along each of two spaced-apart edges of the thin film material, which edges are parallel to two spaced-apart edges of the underlying substrate. The open regions expose areas of underlying substrate. When electrical power is coupled to the two spaced-apart edges of the thin film material, uniformity of the heat generated across the thin film material is enhanced. The substrate may be planar or curved, and the open regions in the thin film material may be removed from deposited thin film material, or may be formed by preventing deposition of thin film material in such regions.

    摘要: An authentication method includes RFID readers authenticating RFID tags using public-key cryptography. A tag manufacturer or other legitimate authority produces a tag private-public key pair and stores the tag private key in externally unreadable tag memory and the tag public key in externally readable tag memory. The authority produces a master private-public key pair and distributes the master public key to readers in the field. The authority generates a tag-specific electronic signature based on at least the tag public key and the master private key and stores this signature in externally readable tag memory. A reader authenticates the tag by retrieving the tag public key and electronic signature from the tag, verifying the authenticity of the tag public key using the master public key and the electronic signature, challenging the tag, receiving a response from the tag to the challenge, and verifying the response using the tag public key.

    摘要: Radio frequency identification (RFID) tags selected for inventorying using combination of preselect and/or post select criteria. The selection commands can be for selecting according to a tag memory content, by invoking the mask address or by comparing other tag characteristics. Selection criteria can be determined locally at a modem block of a reader or provided to the modem block by higher layers of the reader. Tags meeting the selection criteria are reported to the higher layers for further actions. Some tags may be held while waiting for instructions from the higher layer block(s).

    摘要: A low-distortion band-pass delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter (ADC), including an odd-phase sample and hold circuit coupled to a even-phase resonator, improves tolerance to mismatches between analog circuit components. The low-distortion ADC includes a feed-forward signal path that reduces, or eliminates, the input signal beyond the first summation point. In this way, the dynamic range and matching accuracy required of the resonator is reduced. An odd-phase sample and hold circuit shifts S/H spurious signals out-of-band. A two-phase resonator reduces in-band noise degradation caused by any mismatches between the resonator components.
