摘要: The present invention is a system that allows customers to use a mobile device or personal terminal to obtain complete product or service information so as to complete an impartial list. The system aides in the identification of a store or place of interest where the customer may obtain the list items. The system further provides the customer with directions to the store or place of interest, and to the needed item or service within the store, thereby increasing the customers efficiency. The list and directions may be dynamically changed based upon the customers changing needs and changing location.

摘要: Picture Caller Line Identification (PCLI) systems and methods are provided for enabling present and future mobile telephony systems to provide PCLI information to a called party. A PCLI system that interacts with a mobile telephony system includes a storage unit for storing PCLI information and a processor that is programmed to detect a request for a call from a caller to a called party, to retrieve PCLI information for the caller from the storage unit, and to forward the PCLI information to the called party. The processor may be further programmed to suspend completion of the call until verification of receipt of the call by the called handset to ensure that the PCLI information is available at the called party's handset prior to completion of the call. Mobile handsets that may be used with the PCLI system discussed above are also provided. A mobile handset for operating with a PCLI system includes an input to receive an image associated with a caller and to receive notification of the call from the caller, and a display that displays the images. The handset also includes a processor that is programmed to receive the image, to receive the notification of the call from the caller, and to respond to the caller. The processor may be programmed to send the image to the display after receiving the notification of the call from the caller.

摘要: A method for adaptively switching between the WS and S authentication schemes is based on the customer's usage. A first preferred embodiment provides a 2n-1 state automaton (where n>1), which switches from the WS Scheme to the S Scheme when the automaton passes from state n-1 to state n, and vice versa. At each new registration, the automaton increases one state if more than 1 call was made (i.e., incoming or outgoing) during the cycle; decreases one state if no calls were made during the cycle; and remains the same if 1 call was made during the cycle. The value of n is preferably determined by the PSP based on customer usage. A second preferred embodiment begins each new cycle with the WS Scheme, and will switch to the S Scheme if a call is made during the registration.

摘要: Method and system for locating nomadic users in a personal communication services (PCS) system by utilizing two strategies for locating such users and a per-user criterion for determining which, if any, of the two strategies should be used. The method and system augment basic two-level strategies for locating users specified in IS-41 and GSM standards of PCS systems. One strategy utilizes forwarding pointers and the other strategy utilizes per-user location caching. One per-user criterion is a call-to-mobility ratio (CMR) which is the ratio of the average rate at which a user receives calls to the average rate at which the user moves. A variation of this criterion is the local CMR (LCMR) which is the ratio of the average rate at which a user receives calls from a given registration area, to the average rate at which the user moves. The method and system reduce the average time and overhead required to locate and deliver information to such nomadic users.

摘要: The present invention provides methods and systems for managing a call based on multimedia data. According to one embodiment, the invention provides a method for managing a call. The method includes receiving first data related to a call sent by a calling party to a called party. In response to the first data, the method obtains from a database second data related to the call. At least one of the first data, the second data, and a combination of the first and second data includes multimedia data. The method manages the call based at least in part on the multimedia data. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a system for managing a call. The system includes: a database operative to store data associated with subscribers; and a MPCM service in communication with the database. The MPCM service has an interface for communicating over a network. The MPCM service receives over the network first data related to a call sent by a calling party to a called party. In response to the first data, the MPCM service obtains, from the database, second data related to the call. At least one of the first data, the second data, and a combination of the first and second data includes multimedia data. The MPCM service manages the call based at least in part on the multimedia data.

摘要: Processing of multimedia calls in a packet-based network builds on existing call model processing by maintaining the use of the basic call state models to control the overall two-party call and the use of connection views to associate multiple two-party calls and provide access to advanced supplementary services. Through the use of a multimedia view processor, the system separates multimedia connection handling from call handling. The basic call models are extended to support new messages and enhanced messages for creating, modifying, and deleting multimedia view objects and communicating modifications to the media streams between call state model processors and protocol specific processors.
