摘要： Provided is a liquid crystal display apparatus including: a liquid crystal panel including a pair of substrates; a liquid crystal layer sandwiched by the pair of substrates; plural electrodes formed on at least one of the pair of substrates; and a pair of polarizers provided in respective outsides of the pair of substrates; and a back light unit provided in a rear of the liquid crystal panel, in which one of the pair of polarizers, which is provided at a side of the back light unit, includes at least two types of layers which cause polarization, and in which the two types of layers include a first layer provided on a side of the liquid crystal layer and a second layer provided on a side of the back light unit, the first layer being a negative uniaxial polarizer layer, the second layer being a positive uniaxial polarizer layer.

摘要： It is an object to provide a liquid crystal display which reduces unsatisfactory display caused by distorted initial alignment direction in a liquid crystal alignment layer for IPS type displays, realizes stable liquid crystal alignment, is high in mass-productivity, and produces high-quality images of increased contrast ratio. The liquid crystal display contains alignment layers 109 placed between a pair of substrates 101 and 102, at least one of which is transparent, liquid crystal layer 110′ sealed between the alignment layers, common electrode 103 and source electrode 105 for applying an electrical field to the liquid crystal layer, thin-film transistors connected to each of these electrodes, polarizer plate 114 provided on at least one of the substrates, wherein at least one of the alignment layers 109 is composed of a photo-reactive polyimide and/or polyamic acid which can be provided with a liquid crystal alignment capacity by being irradiated with essentially linearly polarized light.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device having high quality and high reliability is manufactured by preventing the occurrence of damages on a terminal portion due to the radiation of laser beams in cutting a substrate of the display device which is formed using a plastic substrate by the radiation of laser beams. A first substrate has a cutting line at a position which faces a terminal portion of a second substrate. In cutting the first substrate along the cutting line, laser beams are radiated to the first substrate along the cutting line so as to form a groove having a predetermined depth in the first substrate. Then, a load is applied to the first substrate along the groove so as to cut the first substrate.

摘要： In a liquid crystal display device using a photodecomposition type light orientation film, the deterioration of display performance due to an impurity resulting from a light orientation treatment of the orientation film is suppressed to enable high-quality image display. In the orientation film to which a liquid crystal orientation function is provided, the amount of decomposition product due to the orientation film is 3957.5 ng or less per 100 cm2.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus including one pair of substrates, at least one of said substrates being transparent, one pair of polarizing plates arranged on the paired substrates respectively, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched by the paired substrates, a liquid crystal display panel in which an electrode group is formed on at least one of the paired substrates and is to apply an electric field to the liquid crystal layer, and a light source unit arranged on a rear surface of the liquid crystal display panel, a monoaxial absorption anisotropic layer provided between the paired polarizing plates. In such apparatus, a high contrast ratio can be achieved due to suppression of black luminance. Also, better display qualities can be achieved by reducing a blue changing phenomenon of black representation.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus and a method of manufacturing wherein the liquid crystal display apparatus includes a pair of substrates, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pair of substrates, plural electrodes formed on at least one of the pair of substrates, a passivation layer formed on the plural electrodes and having concave portions, a thin film having low wettability formed on the passivation layer, and an insulating layer formed on the thin film having low wettability. The method includes the steps of irradiating light onto the thin film through a mask, and applying a solution containing organic high polymers so as to form the insulating layer at the concave portions of the passivation layer.
