Abstract:
A sound insulation process comprises (a) providing at least one sound barrier comprising a substantially periodic array of structures disposed in a first medium having a first density, the array comprising at least one row of at least two of the structures, the structures being made of a second medium having a second density that is greater than the first density, the second medium being a viscoelastic medium, an elastic medium, or a combination thereof, and the first medium being a gaseous medium; and (b) placing the at least one sound barrier in at least one at least partially enclosed gas stream in a manner such that the row of structures extends in a direction that is perpendicular to the direction of flow of the gas stream.
Abstract:
An assembly for cleaning a conveyor belt system is disclosed. The cleaning assembly is for a conveyor belt system with the type having first and second endless belts which each traverse a separate belt travel path and together define a generally upright article transport path between opposed top faces of the belts. The cleaning assembly includes a belt wiping blade assembly for moving liquids and debris from a belt, an absorbent material downstream from the blade assembly for wiping excess liquid from the belt, and belt edge seals disposed between the opposed top faces of the belts along the article transport path.
Abstract:
A novel composition which can serve as a pressure-sensitive or non-pressure sensitive adhesive at room temperature (20.degree. C.) and which comprises a vinyl polymeric backbone with grafted pendant siloxane polymeric moieties. Also disclosed are topical binder compositions containing the novel composition.
Abstract:
This invention describes UV-stabilized step growth polymers such as polyesters, polyurethanes, polycarbonates, and combination thereof. The UV-stabilizing moieties present in these polymers comprise chemically bound, pendant ortho-hydroxydiphenyl ketone based moieties. The polymers are especially useful as protective films and fibers which are highly resistant to ultraviolet (UV) and sunlight degradation.
Abstract:
Articles are provided for the detection of cells in a sample. The articles include a release element. The release element comprises a coated substrate that includes a cell extractant. The release element controls the release of the cell extractant into a liquid mixture containing the sample. Methods of use are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A solid cleaner for heated surfaces is disclosed. The solid cleaner includes a solidifying agent including wax, and a cleaning agent. The solid cleaner is solid at room temperature and liquid at an elevated temperature. Methods of cleaning a heated surface and cleaning articles are also disclosed.
Abstract:
This invention relates to adhesives, surface modifying compositions, sealing compositions, and topical binder compositions comprising a copolymer having a vinyl polymeric backbone with grafted pendant siloxane polymeric moieties and especially to a method of topically applying such coating to animals.
Abstract:
A novel topical medicinal composition is described which comprises a copolymer which has both pendant fluorochemical groups and pendant polysiloxane grafts.
