    摘要: An optical transceiver configured to perform filtering of digital diagnostics prior to the filtered results being made accessible to a host computing system (hereinafter referred to simply as a “host”) that is communicatively coupled to the optical transceiver. The optical transceiver includes sensor(s) that measures analog operational parameter signals such as temperature and supply voltage. The analog signals are each converted to a plurality of digital samples by analog to digital converter(s). A processor executes microcode that causes the optical transceiver to perform filtering on the various samples. The optical transceiver may then make the filtered result accessible to the host.

    摘要: Systems and methods are provided for determining and compensating for the laser slope efficiency of a light source positioned in an optical transmitter in order to properly set a modulation current for the light source. In one embodiment, a method for setting a modulation current for the laser of an optical transmitter is disclosed, wherein data relating to the laser transmit power and laser bias current at a plurality of laser bias current levels are sensed. A processor is then employed to calculate a slope efficiency of the laser using the data. The processor then determines a desired modulation current for the laser using the slope efficiency. Then if needed, the modulation current of the laser is modified to match the desired modulation current.

The detachable connector is used to couple an electronic module that includes a printed circuit board to a host device. Also presented is a method of building a module using this detachable connector. The detachable connector simplifies the module manufacturing process because the module does not involve the costly hand-soldering and pcb-turning steps of the conventional methods.

    摘要: An optical transceiver module having a plurality of optical subassemblies and a printed circuit board is disclosed. The transceiver module includes lead frame connectors for connecting the optical subassemblies to the printed circuit board. The lead frame connectors include a stamped and bent conductive lead structure that is encased in an insert injection molded plastic casing. The plastic casing provides electrical insulation for the conductors in the lead frame as well as mechanical support for the finished component. The lead frame connectors connect to the leads associated with the optical subassemblies and are surface mounted onto the printed circuit board to establish connectivity between the optical subassembly and the printed circuit board. The lead frame assemblies are generally more reliable and less expensive than using flexible printed circuit board structures to establish electrical connectivity between optical subassemblies and transceiver printed circuit boards.

    摘要: Methods for authenticating an optical transceiver module to a host are disclosed. The transceiver comprises a receive signal line for transferring data from the transceiver to the host and a transmit signal line for transferring data from the host to the transceiver in preparation for transmission to a communications network. The transceiver includes a controller having a processor in communication with the host, and a first memory register assignable by the processor. A consolidated laser driver/post amplifier is also included and features a pattern generator and a data switch. The pattern generator produces a string of bit values that serve as an authenticating data portion. The data switch selectively inputs the authenticating data portion to the receive signal line of the transceiver according to the state of the first memory register, enabling the authenticating data portion to be received by the host, thereby authenticating the transceiver.

The housing includes a cover and a base disengagably coupled to each other, and a first and second layer of sidewalls located between the cover and the base. The two layers of sidewalls have different dimensions from each other so that a printed circuit board is enclosed in a space formed by the base, the cover, and either only the second layer of sidewall or both the first and second layer of sidewalls, depending on the thickness of the board. Another aspect of the invention is a pcb coupled to a connector and a housing for the pcb that includes an electromagnetic radiation shield between electronic components on the pcb and the connector. The shield reduces the amount of radiation reaching the connector. Also disclosed is a method of building this module.
