摘要: The disclosure details the implementation of an apparatus, method, and system for a macroeconomic equity investment design and trade system (the Wavefront system). The disclosure teaches a set of quantitative tools to help investors design trades around macro themes. Part of the approach is a linked set of models called Wavefronts, which describe how economic shocks ripple through the economy into company performance, market value and equity returns in the US market. In one embodiment, the modeling may be viewed as having in three parts. The first converts an economic shock into a comprehensive set of shifts in the economy. The second takes those economic shifts and drives them into company fundamentals. The third values those fundamentals based on what the market normally pays. As a consequence, the Wavefront system maps economic views and risks into predictions of what the market will pay for those changes, and the industries and companies that will over- and under-perform, which allows for and results in the construction of more risk-efficient portfolios. In an alternative embodiment, the Wavefront system may also inverse the progression of the three parts to uncover and move industry specific information to uncover macroeconomic themes.

摘要: Systems and methods for providing encryption and decryption of data transmitted on a computer implemented network, preferably user authentication identifier data, such as a password, at the point of entry into the user's computer. The systems and methods enable an end user to mentally select a marker from one of the randomly arranged elements on a first portion of a graphical image. A second portion of the graphical image includes an arrangement of possible elements of any individual authentication identifier sequence, and is positioned adjacent to the first portion. The systems and methods prompt a user to enter each element of the identifier by moving the selected marker and the first portion as necessary to substantially align the selected marker with a chosen element of the authentication identifier appearing on the outer portion. According to one embodiment, the image portions are concentric wheels. According to another embodiment, the image portions are arranged in adjacent rows.

摘要: Technology for sharing data among multiple virtual machines in a cluster of virtual machines is disclosed. Each virtual machine identifies “managed” objects of an instance of an application running at the virtual machine. Operations performed by an instance of one application which affect the state of managed objects are detected and distributed. The technology distributes object state of managed objects by distributing underlying object field data. A cluster of virtual machines each detects changes to objects of an application running at the virtual machine at a field level of granularity and communicates information with other virtual machines in the cluster to replicate the changes to local instances of a managed object at other virtual machines.

Each virtual machine identifies “managed” objects of an instance of an application running at the virtual machine. Operations performed by an instance of one application which affect the state of managed objects are detected and distributed. Each virtual machine in the cluster represents object data using a different locally generated object identifier. The virtual machine detects operations, such as method calls, which are performed by the application and which affect the states of the managed objects. The virtual machine then communicates information identifying the operations to the central manager for use in providing a local representation of the states of the managed objects.

摘要: A microsensor for detecting corrosive media acting on a bulk metallic material when mounted in situ adjacent a location in the bulk metallic material. The microsensor includes a plurality of corrosion sensors (4A, 4B, 4C) exposed to the corrosive media, each having corrosive tracks formed from a patterned conductive thin film. The different sensors have different characteristics, such as track width, track thickness, track composition, surface type, sensor type, etc. so as to provide the sensors with different sensitivities, corrosion indications and lifetime characteristics. Such microsensor arrangements provide improved corrosion detection at high degrees of miniaturisation.

摘要: A motorized sample collection apparatus having a hollow clamshell casing with a contoured grip for the fingers, a horizontal extension to eliminate slippage when held in a user's hand, and a flange bottom portion from which a sample sleeve extends downwards. Within the clamshell casing an electric motor is mounted which drives, via spur gears the sample sleeve in a rotational manner. The distal end of the sample sleeve, is a cutting edge circumscribing a circular region. An ejection rod slides reciprocally within the sample sleeve between a retracted stowed position and an expulsion position. User cuts a sample from a substrate by engaging contact between the cutting edge of the sample sleeve and the substrate, applying pressure against the substrate and activating the motor to rotate the sample sleeve. Activation of the ejection rod towards the expulsion position displaces the sample into an appropriate collecting vessel.
