摘要: A method of doing meaningful modifications on an image is presented. These modifications can then be used in variety of applications related to image shape manipulation and similar shape retrieval. The method extracts macrofeatures and microfeature from a given shape. Deformations are done on the macrofeatures only. These deformations are either predefined, or are taken from a deformation library, or are calculated from the shape itself, The microfeatures are then added to the deformed macrofeatures to get a deformed shape. The shape deformations then allow user's perception of shape similarity to be learned, which is reflected in the values of parameters in a parameterized shape similarity metric. The user can use one of the deformed shapes as the initial query point, instead of the shape he or she started with. The shape database compression is achieved by storing only the identification of a similar shape and value of global deformations which will generate this shape approximately, instead of storing every shape feature individually.

摘要: A classified adaptive spatio-temporal creation process is utilized to translate data from one format to another. This process creates new pixels by applying a filter selected on an output pixel by pixel basis which has been adaptively chosen from an application-specific set of three-dimensional filters. In one embodiment, a standard orientation is chosen, which is defined according to each output data position. Input data is flipped to align the output data position with the output position of the standard orientation. A classification is performed using the flipped input data and an appropriate filter is selected according to the classification. The filter is then executed to generate the value of the output data point.

摘要: A system and method for decoding a signal comprising fixed-length data (FL-data) and variable length data (VL-data) is disclosed. In one embodiment, groups of fixed length data (FL-data) and blocks of variable length data (VL-data) are stored in a predetermined space. Each group of FL-data corresponds to a block of VL-data. The blocks of VL-data are retrieved by referencing corresponding groups of FL-data. In one embodiment, this system and method permits bidirectional recovery of data. In one embodiment, this is used in the transmission of video signals over a potentially lossy communications channel.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention relate to an approach for reusing information/knowledge. Specifically, embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for retrieving previously stored data to satisfy queries (e.g., jobs/tickets) for solutions to problems while maintaining privacy/security of the data as well as ensuring the quality of the results. In a typical embodiment, a query for a solution to a problem is received and details are extracted therefrom. Using the details, a search is performed on a set of data stored in at least one computer storage device. Based on the search, a set of results will be generated and classified into a set of categories. In any event, the quality of each of the set of results will be assessed based on the usefulness of the set of results.

摘要: A user at a client machine can customize components of a database search performed at a server. The user does this by sending executable code to the database server. Software code runs as middleware on the database server machine to communicate between the database server and the client and performs the functions of supplying the client with vital information required for generating code which will be used for customizing various processes of the database retrieval session. Typically, the server comprises a set of database servers and the middleware runs on each database server machine to communicate between the database servers and the client. The middleware provides a virtual machine on which the user-supplied code written in a virtual machine language is executed, giving a uniform interface across the set of database servers on which the same user-supplied code will be executed ensuring that the user-supplied code executes under database server specified access privileges.

摘要: An apparatus, method, and computer-readable medium for selectively performing, in parallel structures, different functions on an input image, sound data or other correlated data. An input is configured to receive the input data. There are at least two circuits, each circuit is coupled to the input and each circuit is configured to perform a different function on the input data. A motion-detection circuit is coupled to the input and each of the at least two circuits. The motion-detection circuit is configured to determine a level of change in the input data and generate an output of motion data. The motion data is used by each of the at least two circuits to perform its corresponding function. A select device is coupled to each of the at least two circuits and a control input. The select device is configured to select as output data, the output of one of the at least two circuits based upon the control input. The different functions performed on the input data may be selected from the group consisting of recovering erroneous data contained in the input data, interpolating the input data, and reducing the noise level of the input data.
