    Abstract: An immunoglobulin-binding protein has an improved chemical stability, especially having an improved alkaline stability, or an immunoglobulin-binding protein capable of allowing antibody elution under mild pH conditions, and an adsorbent on which the protein is immobilized. The alkaline stability or the antibody elution property is improved by including an amino acid sequence which is the same as an amino acid sequence of an immunoglobulin-binding domain of protein L derived from a bacterium belonging to the genus Finegoldia except that the amino acid residue(s) at a particular position(s) of the domain in the amino acid sequence is/are substituted with another particular amino acid residues(s).

    Abstract: A zirconia powder including 2% by mole or more and 8% by mole or less of a stabilizing element and 50 ppm or less of titanium (Ti) and having an activation energy of 225 kJ/mol or more and 300 kJ/mol or less, which provides a zirconia powder capable of producing a sintered body with high translucency even by pressureless sintering and suitable for industrial production, a method for producing the zirconia powder, a method for producing a calcined body using the zirconia powder, and a method for producing a sintered body using the zirconia powder. Such a powder is produced by a method including adjusting a pH of a raw material solution containing a zirconium source and a stabilizing element source to 3.5 or more and 5.5 or less; heating the raw material solution to produce a zirconia sol solution; mixing the zirconia solution and an alkaline solution; and heat-treating.

    Abstract: Methods for determining a radius of gyration of a particle in solution using a light scattering detector are provided. The method may include passing the solution through a flowpath in a sample cell, determining respective angular normalization factors for first and second angles of the detector, obtaining a first scattering intensity of the particle in solution at the first angle, obtaining a second scattering intensity of the particle in solution at the second angle, obtaining a 10° scattering intensity of the particle in solution at an angle of about 10°, determining a first particle scattering factor, determining a second particle scattering factor, plotting an angular dissymmetry plot, fitting a line to the angular dissymmetry plot, determining a slope of the line at a selected location on the line, determining the radius of gyration of the particle in solution from the slope of the line, and outputting the radius of gyration.
