摘要: A variable resistor with a switching function includes arcuate resistive layers and arcuate electrodes arranged alternately on a base plate. A protective layer is formed on the base plate adjacent to a first electrode and between the arcuate resistive layers. A gap separates the protective layer from the first electrode in order to electrically isolate the protective layer. A movable portion has brushes fixed thereto which slidably contact the resistive layers, the electrodes, and the protective layer. The protective layer serves as a lubricating layer to reduce the wear on the brush.

摘要: A position detecting sensor includes a magnet, a magnetic detecting element, and a yoke adjacent to or near the magnet. A detected member is positioned at one side of the position detecting sensor so as to be adjacent to or away from the position detecting sensor. The magnet is oriented to generate a magnetic line of flux which flows in a direction complying with an extending direction of the detected member. The magnetic detecting element is positioned in an area in which a magnetic flux density generated by the magnet is relatively low when the detected member is positioned away from the position detecting sensor and a magnetic flux density is relatively high when the detected member is positioned adjacent to the position detecting sensor.

摘要: Disclosed is a rotation detecting sensor suitable for use under a vibration-abundant condition as e.g. a sensor disposed in an automobile body for detecting rotation of an engine or ABS. The sensor includes a detecting element for detecting rotation of a rotary body as a change in a magnetic flux and outputting a signal and an integrated circuit for processing the amplified signal into a pulse corresponding to the detected rotation of the rotary body. The signal processing includes an initialization such as a gain adjustment for obtaining an appropriate gain for use in the subsequent process of conversion of the amplified signal to the pulse. According to this invention, a re-initialization is effected to obtain a new initial value such as a new gain if the previously effected initialization is determined inappropriate.

摘要: A process of nickel plating for forming a plated film having a high phosphorus content according to this invention comprises the steps of: a first step of electroless plating a substance to be plated in an electroless plating bath capable of forming an electroless plated film having a phosphorus content of from 0.20 to 0.25 in atomic ratio of phosphorus with respect to nickel taken as one (1); and a second step of electroplating the substance to be plated by applying an electric current having an electric current density of from 1 to 10 A/dm.sup.2, and the substance to be plated being left immersed in the electroless plating bath continuously, thereby laminating an electroplated film on the surface of the electroless plated film. The process of nickel plating can form a plated film having a remarkably improved wettability with respect to solders since the electroplated film is formed on the electroless plated film having the high phosphorus content. Further, the plated film maintains the good chemical resistance and abrasion resistance of the electroless plated film, and has strong adhesion endurable to the thermal stress and the mechanical stress of an actual service.
