    摘要： A communications data terminal apparatus that is capable of performing a plurality of communications controls includes a first communications controller performing communications functions including V.8 and V.34 procedures, a second communications controller performing a modem function having a data signaling rate slower than that of the first communications controller. A timer counts a predetermined time period after the first controller sends a CM signal during a calling mode, or a JM signal during a receiving mode. A system controller is used to 1) determine whether the first communications controller receives the JM signal from a remote data terminal apparatus within the predetermined time; 2) stop sending the CM signal and receive a DIS signal when it is determined that no JM signal is received within the predetermined time when the apparatus is operating in the during the calling mode; 3) determines whether the first communications controller receives a CJ signal within the predetermined time; and 4) stop sending the JM signal and sends the DIS signal when no CJ signal is received within the predetermined time when the apparatus is operating in receiving mode.
