Abstract: A pumping heart simulator is described. The pumping heart simulator can include an inflow pump, an outflow pump, and a control apparatus. The inflow pump can have a first magnetic motor that facilitates flow of fluid from a bottom portion of a fluid reservoir to three inlet valves of a heart via the inflow pump. The outflow pump can have a second magnetic motor that facilitates flow of fluid from two outlet valves of the heart to a top portion of the fluid reservoir via the outflow pump. The control apparatus can alternately activate the first magnetic motor and the second magnetic motor. Related apparatuses, systems, methods, techniques and articles are also described.

Abstract: A glove is described to simultaneously, non-invasively, and continuously, over a period of time, monitor physiological parameters (e.g., blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation level, electrical activity of the heart, and/or heart rate) of a patient. A computing server that is either communicatively coupled to the glove or is a part of the glove uses the monitored physiological parameters to determine whether the patient has a physiological condition (e.g., hypotension, hypertension, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, hypoxia, hyperoxia, arrhythmia, a strong form of tachycardia, a mild form of tachycardia, and/or bradycardia). Abstract: A device is described that can effectively increase the range of motion of a jaw of a patient to address physiological conditions that involve restricted range of motion of the jaw of the patient. The device can be used to apply opposing forces to the maxillary and mandibular teeth, which can stretch the temporomandibular joint and mandibular muscles, which in turn can aid in opening of the jaw. Furthermore, the device includes a spring, which is configured to be stretched when the patient performs mastication motions. Such stretching of the spring dynamically applies varying amounts of force on the jaw depending on the position of the jaw during the entire range of motion of the jaw, and severity of the physiological condition such as trismus. Such dynamic force requires the jaw to perform different amounts of work at various positions, which aids in the opening of the jaw.

Abstract: A swab is described that includes a handle, a connecting rod including a ring groove, and a head having a shape of at least one of flagella or pilus. The head includes one or more channels configured to collect sample (e.g., specimen) from an anatomical part of a patient. The one or more channels can store the sample while additional sample is being collected. The head has an end that is convex. The handle includes a circular disc to hold the swab. The connecting rod is configured to be broken at the ring groove when pressure is applied to bend the swab. The handle, the connecting rod, and the head form/are a single integrated structure and are inseparable without breaking the single integrated structure. The anatomical part can be a nose or a throat. Related apparatuses, systems, techniques, methods and articles are also within the scope of this disclosure.

Abstract: A resuscitation device is described that can include an electronic circuit board, a shaft that is operably coupled with the electronic circuit board and has a head, a gas-bag adjacent to the head and configured to store gas, and a valve operably coupled to the gas-bag. The electronic circuit board can actuate the shaft to move. The moving of the shaft can cause the head to compress the gas-bag. The compression of the gas-bag can cause the gas-bag to release gas. Abstract: A positioning device includes a base extending in a horizontal plane, a support post extending along a vertical axis, a detachable headrest subassembly attached to an end of the support post opposite the base, an arm rest subassembly attached to the support post between the headrest subassembly and the base, a thoracic support subassembly attached to the support post between the armrest subassembly and the base, A thoracic support cushion is attached to the support post by a bar. The attachment is reconfigurable to vary an orientation and location of the cushion with respect to the vertical axis, a footrest subassembly attached to the support post between the thoracic support subassembly and the base, and a digital device holder attached to the positioned device by a flexible arm, the flexible arm configured to support a digital device in view of the patient during use of the positioning device.
