Abstract:
In a method for determining the rolling force in a roll stand for rolling metallic material which is to be rolled, the rolling force is determined by means of at least one neural network. According to the invention, the neural network is trained using, in particular measured, values for the rolling force under different operating conditions with a view to improving the determination of the rolling force. The neural network is advantageously trained using values for the rolling force and values for the different operating conditions for roll stands of different rolling trains.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for pre-calculating the parameters of industrial processes. According to said method, an admissible process input variable vector is determined with definition ranges allocated to each variable and a process output variable vector is determined with the pre-calculable process parameters. Known information on the process is stored in a data bank and ranges of validity for the process input variables are allocated to said information. For each process input vector inputted from an admissible definition range provided with valid information, exactly one process output vector is determined according to the information valid therefor.
Abstract:
In a damper for spin-drying washing machines, it is provided, with a view to amplitude-dependent damping behaviour being obtained accompanied with manufacture at a low cost, that a frictional damping unit, which is disposed inside a casing, comprises an at least sectionally bare and elastic frictional damping lining for producing a given frictional damping effect, and at least one stop element which is stationary in relation to the casing and turned towards the at least one frictional damping lining, with the at least one stop element being designed for direct cooperation with the at least one frictional damping lining.
Abstract:
In a damper, in particular for spin-drying washing machines, it is provided, with a view to improved solidity and noise behaviour of the damper, that at least one buffer stop is disposed between at least one piston and at least one stop element, the buffer stop comprising at least one flexibly pliable buffer stop element which is integral with the at least one piston or the at least one stop element.

Abstract:
An apparatus comprising a frame; a member movable relative to said frame; a damping device interconnected between the frame and the movable member; a controller for activating the damper to generate a damping condition at a predetermined member operating condition; and system for activating the damping device at a predetermined operating condition of the moving member during a loss of power to the apparatus. The damping device may comprise a field controllable damper that includes a volume of field controllable fluid, which may in turn comprise magnetorheological fluid for example. The rheology of the field controllable fluid is effected during the application of the field.

Abstract:
A casting-rolling plant and a method of operating a casting-rolling plant are disclosed. At least one slab production line (40, 50) and at least one mill train (4) as well as at least one slab feeding device (20) that is independent of the slab production line (40, 50) with respect to the production process are provided. In order to achieve a higher throughput in the production of strip material, the slab feeding device (20) takes over slab feed to the mill train (4) during a production break of the slab production line (40, 50) in accordance with logistic and/or manufacturing standards up to a maximum output possible.
